HAPPY NEW YEAR! This is the first Rapidly Rotating Records broadcast of 2019! I hope you had pleasant holidays and that the new year so far promises to be a good one for you. It certainly does here at the massive Rapidly Rotating Records / KISL-FM studio complex. This week we’ll celebrate the birthdays of James Melton, Jane Green, Carroll Gibbons and the state of Georgia. We’ll also have a “non-topic” topic. What’s that, you ask? Well, records I came across while putting the play list together out of which I couldn’t make a unified topic. Unlike our feature “For No Particular Reason,” there is a reason I’m playing each of them, and of course, you’ll find out just why that is.

    Enjoy the show!

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

This is the final Rapidly Rotating Records broadcast…of 2018, that is! We have no intention of presenting a final broadcast until I can no longer even lift a turntable tone arm! This week’s show starts off right by consuming some whiskey! Musical whiskey, that is, and introducing several artists you probably weren’t familiar with. This is the season for taking things back, such as Christmas presents, but some people would like to be taken back as well, and we’ll hear from some of them. We’ll “make hay,” and do something we haven’t done in a while, play “One Thing In Common.” And Bing Crosby will finish up the show with some good advice, “Let’s Start The New Year Right.”

Thanks to everyone for listening and for the feedback, encouragement and support over this past year. I look forward to bring you more toe-tapping music in 2019 and beyond. My best wishes to you for a very happy, safe, healthy and exceptionally prosperous New Year filled with unforgettable adventures and quality time spent with family and friends.

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

On this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we’re going to take a musical trip to Monterey, California. Monterey was the capital of Alta California under both Spain and Mexico. From there, we’ll go clear across the country to visit Coney Island in New York. And we’ll be traveling by train. We’ll also do some wiggling and hear some songs about captains. Ah, but what kind of captains? There are lots of kinds of captains, ship’s captains, military captains, airline, fire and police captains, and of course, captains of industry. Listen to the show to find out! If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected]. And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

Don’t be alarmed, but this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records does not start off with our usual theme song of “Avalon.” Just for this week it starts with Guido Nielsen playing Joseph Lamb’s “American Beauty” rag. Why? Because this week’s show is a brief summary of last week-end’s 32nd annual West Coast Ragtime Festival, which we had the great fortune to attend. This week’s playlist will consist of vintage recordings of some of the tunes we heard at the festival, including some which will be totally unexpected, but I think you’ll enjoy.

The playlist is a bit late this week since as you were listening to the show, we were enjoying the “after party” at the West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento. We had a wonderful time and you’ll hear about some highlight on next week’s show. As for this week, we’ll start things off with a musical fruit salad, followed by a quick musical trip to Monte Carlo. In the third segment we’ll find out who’s in town (and as a hint, it’s not Lulu!) Actually Lulu gets her own segment and in the final segment of the show, we’ll play some music to get you in the mood for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected].
