  • Oh, You Kid! Rapidly Rotating Records 78RPM Show Sept. 2, 2018

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

I hope you don’t have to labor on this Labor Day holiday, but if so, perhaps you can take a long enough break to listen to the two segments on this week’s show having to do with work. In the first two segments of the show we’ll play some records associated with the “Oh, You Kid!” craze of the early 1900s, and we’ll hear some records about some different kind of “bucks.”  If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected]. And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.

    Enjoy the show!

  • RRR 78RPM Show – 26 August 2018

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

The first thing you’ll notice about this week’s show is that we’re back–permanently–to Red Nichols’ February 1928 recording of “Avalon” as our theme song. Although there was some support for Billy Cotton’s version, the overwhelming opinion of listeners, probably due to tradition, was to stick with Red and the Five Pennies. After all, his record has been used as the theme song for the show for all but the first few months of our 18 years on the air. Thanks to all who voiced their opinion and I hope this won’t deter you from listening. As for the rest of this week’s show, were going to do some jumping, celebrate the birthday of Walter Blaufuss, learn a new word, deal with some snakes and get admitted to the bar. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected].  And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.

For those of you who were unable to tune in over the air or listen streaiming online to last week’s special 2 hour, live 18th anniversary show, the plan was to record the show and post it so you could vicariously share in the fun. Unfortunately, due to operator error, no doubt on my part, the show didn’t record. However, all is not lost. I will be recreating the anniversary show this week and will post it as soon as possible. For this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we’re going to start off with nothing and eventually get to everything. • Part 2 Special 2-Hour 18th Anniversary Edition of Rapidly Rotating Records 78RPM Show
For the special 18th anniversary edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we were live in the KISL studio in Avalon on Santa Catalina Island. Unfortunately, probably due to operator error on the part of yours truly, the live show was not recorded. But since most of you listen to the podcast, even though KISL can be heard streaming online 24/7 from anywhere, I went back and re-created the live show. Because the show was over two hours in length, I've broken it into two parts. Part 1 is one hour long and Part 2 is about one hour, twelve minutes. In the very first part of the show, I pose a question to the audience and would appreciate your response. You can leave a comment on the website or the Facebook page or send an email to [email protected] And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome.
As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.
    Enjoy the show!!

  • RRR 78RPM Show – July 22, 2018

Welcome to Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and’30s.

This week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records starts off with a set of songs about Avalon and Catalina. Why? To promote the fact the next week, July 29, we will be celebrating the 18th anniversary of the show with a special LIVE, two-hour show direct from the massive KISL studio complex in Memorial Park in Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. If you’re not within range of KISL’s 88.7 FM signal, fear not. You can hear the show streaming online from anywhere in the world at www.KISLAvalon.com. Tonight, however, we’ll also be taking a musical trip to the moon to celebrate the 1969 moon landing. We’ll deal with some “stuff,” find out who’s that knocking at my door and try to find out what’s around the corner. If you enjoy the show, please let us know by leaving a comment on the website or the Facebook page or sending an email to [email protected].  And remember, your requests and topic segments are always welcome. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.
