What would you do if your 15 year old sister went missing and years later you realize that your parents may have been involved in her possible murder? That is what happened to Stephen Pandos, who's sister Jennifer disappeared from her bedroom the night of February 9th 1987 without a trace, leaving nothing but a bizarre note behind claiming to be written by a stranger. His parents Margie and Ron have always maintained they have no idea why or how she vanished nor where she is now. But their stories and behavior in the days and months after that night raised a lot of suspicions in the minds of police and even their extended family. The new MAX docuseries "Burden of Proof" traces Stephen's exhausting and frustrating search for the truth. We interview both Stephen and filmmaker Cynthia Hill about this long heartbreaking journey.

In this episode, we interview award-winning investigative journalist turned author Nicki Weisensee Egan about the latest updates regarding Bill Cosby, including six women who have filed civil suits against Cosby in New York City, one woman filed in New Jersey, another in California and a further nine women in Nevada. Nicki wrote the book 'Chasing Cosby' and hosted the podcast of the same name.

To be clear, in 2018 Bill Cosby was found guilty in a criminal court of law for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home (three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault). He was sentenced to three to ten years. However, he was released after serving only two years in 2021. He was not exonerated. He was never acquitted. His release had everything to do with a bizarre pre-trial procedural interpretation that his lawyers were able to convince a Pennsylvania Supreme Court to agree with, something Jim weighs in on. Cosby’s PR team and attorneys constantly try to spin the narrative on this. Laura reads out a communication Nicki received from Cosby's PR person, (which also references Laura) and you won’t believe your ears on how he is desperately trying to re-write Cosby’s history of sexual assault allegations. Join our discussion on why these new civil cases are important for holding Cosby accountable for his alleged actions. Bill Cosby has always denied any wrongdoing and all charges. We have an urgent episode today about a case listeners particularly in the U.K. need to be aware. Serial Child Murderer and rapist Colin Pitchfork — who raped and murdered two 15 year old girls, Lynda Mann in 1983 and Dawn Ashworth in 1986 in Leicestershire - is about to be released from prison into the community unless Ministers take action. In our opinion as experts, we strongly believe that it's not possible for psychopath Colin Pitchfork to be rehabilitated and we explain why in this episode.

The Parole Board has shown a shocking lack of understanding of psychopaths (which Pitchfork has been diagnosed) in allowing this 63 year old man his freedom. Would you believe that he was granted parole in 2021 but had to be re-locked up because he had immediately violated the terms? Why is he getting another chance? Laura lays out the glaring red flags and her fears about what cunning strategies Pitchfork may be planning in order to offend again. Jim weighs in on the layers of psychopathy that Pitchfork appears to possess.

Laura and Jim interview State Senator Susan Rubio of California who is a fierce advocate for victims of domestic violence, and a champion for children and families who have been left behind by the family court system. She also talks about her own first hand personal experience as a survivor of domestic violence and coercive control. 

Senator Rubio is responsible for authoring “Piqui’s Law” SB 616  named after a five year little old boy, who was smothered to death by his own father, Aramazd Andressian, in 2017 to get back at his estranged ex-wife. Piqui’s mother, Ana Estevez had begged the courts to protect her and her child, saying her son “was terrified” of his father, but without any physical evidence of abuse, Aramazd was allowed access. “Piqui’s Law”, as well as several others Senator Rubio has put forth, will help change this and protect victims when they are most vulnerable. Do not miss this crucial episode about some of the horrific things going on in family court.

In 2015, Emma Mannion, an 18 year old college student at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa was raped in a parking lot outside of a popular bar. What happened next is almost as shocking as the sexual assault. When Emma went to the police to report this crime, not only did they not believe her, but they arrested her for making a false report. According to the new Netflix documentary “Victim/Suspect” Emma’s case is not an isolated incident. Investigative journalist Rachel de Leon from the Center for Investigative Reporting takes us on a horrible journey as she uncovers case after case of victims not being believed and then prosecuted.
