In these ‘Raw bite’ episodes of my podcast, I’ll be selecting my favorite moments from previous episodes of Real & Raw.
Once you've made the decision to leave your job to go freelance or launch your own business, it can bring serious questions and assumptions from people that are close to you.
If it was for another job for a bigger company, it would be fine, they would all congratulate you, but when it comes to launching your own business and starting from scratch, people immediately start assuming that you'll fail and be unsuccessful if you don't have a proper plan with detailed structure and strategy.
As Hanna says, there seems to be this huge pressure that when you start a business that then has to make you a millionaire or last forever, otherwise you failed.
When you think about closing your business people start assuming "Oh, well, that business failed. Oh, she didn't manage to do what she wanted to do." when in reality, I've just changed my mind about what I want to do. And at the end, it all comes down to your decision and what you think will work for you, whether it's reconsidering your career, closing your business or finding a new job.
It's safe to say that our society heavily relies on viewing things from the perspective of having a job in a big organization and working for a huge company. When in reality, your personal values and your business values shouldn't necessarily differ because you're still the same human being showing up for work, whether you're working for yourself or for someone else. Either way, you have to give the best version of yourself to make things work. There should be no rules for what you should be doing.
It all comes down to this, nobody knows what's best for you better than you can, so trust your instincts and own your decisions. You'll be glad you did.
