Keri Baker: Marketing Strategist & Copywriter

Keri's journey with Rock Solid Academy (RSA) was a delightful rollercoaster of transformation! Initially, she was a tad skeptical about investing in RSA, but destiny had something special in store for her. Every client goes through 3 phases: pre-client, current client, and renewal. It starts when they first encounter you and your content, and the relationship builds from there. You will need to manage their expectations throughout the process, help them feel welcome and supported, and make sure that they’re leaving your container happy.

But, when their contract, package, or container comes to an end, that doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship with them! Are they aware of how they can continue to work with you?

• Sales is service
• Sales are about them, not you!
• Willingness to give and be generous - but don’t work for free!
• Red flag (you’ll have to listen to know what that means!)

If you come into every sales conversation as a good human, with service first and foremost, your potential client will feel that.

One of my favorite things to talk about is marketing & sales. Before I get into the techniques I use in my business and with my clients, first you need to be totally clear on who your ideal client is. If you need a refresher on how to really nail that down, I did a deep dive way back in Season 1 Episode 3: Finding Your Sweet Spot. 

A few of the top strategies I use in my business are:

• Creating FOMO (fear of missing out)
• Everything is content! You can use anything from your life in your marketing.

If you’re not happy with your sales and marketing for your business right now, look at what makes you really happy. Is it your clients? Is it something you can do for them? Helping them reach a goal? What kind of content do you love creating? Start there!

Show your ideal clients who you are and what you can do for them and let the FOMO do the rest!

I bet this sounds familiar. Back when I started my VA business, I decided to charge an hourly rate a little lower than the 9-5 job I had just left. Honest to God, my thought process was that I was greedy to charge more because I was so blessed to be able to work from home and save on daycare expenses. 

There were a few problems with that logic. It didn’t account for:

• Overhead
• Taxes
• Guaranteed hours
• Fees for job sites
• The market value for my skills

Your job as an online business owner is to show the value in what you do. From there, take inventory of your skills, experience, investments, and your research to set a rate that pays you what you’re worth.
