Just as Jake and Lauren hit record for today's Locked On Red Sox episode, the Red Sox dropped some news.

The Boston Red Sox designated Matt Barnes for assignment in order to make room for Adam Duvall on the 40-man roster Tuesday night. Jake Ignaszewski and NESN's Lauren Willand immediately react to the news to start the show and wonder why it could have been Barnes over Ryan Brasier or Kaleb Ort.

Later, Jake and Lauren recap the Red Sox Winter Weekend and how the crowd showered Chaim Bloom, John Henry and Sam Kennedy with boos throughout the Town Hall. The two look at why (deservedly) feel that way and why the front office should have expected what was thrown their way.

Lauren and Jake also discuss the trade the Red Sox made Tuesday which sent Josh Taylor to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Adalberto Mondesi and a player to be named later.
