In 2018 accused murderer Iain Packer approached an investigative reporter called Sam Poling. He’d seen her documentary about Police Scotland and decided he wanted to get her to help him clear his name.

What the on-screen interview did however, was expose his lies right there on camera for the world to see.

This is quite a short case because there’s just not a lot of information out there but it’s a case I’d not even heard of- it happened at the end of 2022, and I had no idea about any of it until it popped up on my research list. Stephen Spahalski was just 16 when he was convicted of murder. Over the next 30 years, his twin brother would go on to murder 4 people, possibly more.

Growing up, I always looked at people who worked as making art for a living, as the absolute pinnacle of ‘living the dream’. Julia Rawson was one of those people who lived her dream. She was not only an artist, but she also had this amazing ability to connect with people. Her friends said that she could literally walk up to anyone in any bar, and start a conversation with them. Usually this meant that she would have a great night, and wake up with about 10 new friends. But on the fateful evening of the 11th of May 2019, she made friends with the most devious and dangerous person. And he would end her life, in the most brutal way.
