  • Episode 308: Not Your Mother's Nancy Drew
There is an informative, in depth and well made documentary on the making of Alien (1979) it just doesn't happen to be Memory: The Origins of Alien which they all watched this week. If you can find a copy of The Beast Within: The Making of Alien you should watch that one. While they're on a roll they take on two new CW fall series, Batwoman and Nancy Drew. Since Tod is reputed to automatically like anything based on a comic book, and Dave is predisposed to like pretty much anything with an attractive female lead, logic would dictate they would have come up with something good to say about at least one of these shows. Listen and find out. Along the way they cover some random topics, and do an Alien themed round of Show and Tell. You can see pics of their Show and Tell items at regularjoe's.com ... but probably not before the weekend, because that's when Tod usually gets around to posting it. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 307: I Really Like That Comic Con
Last week Barry, Dave, Tod and more than 150,000 total strangers met up for the annual New York Comic Con. They saw a dizzying array of stuff, celebrities, and yes, even a few comics. Along the way the got to meet the legendary Rick Baker and step on board the Rocinante from The Expanse. They also stood in unreasonably long lines to get bad hotdogs and take a pee. But that's all part of the NYCC experience. Among the many interesting trailers which dropped last weekend were the Expanse season 4, Star Trek Discovery season 3, Lost in Space Season 2 and the premiere season of Picard. With so much Sci Fi in the pipeline the Joes highlight what stands out, and most excites them. All this plus the usual Random Topics. Check out our NYCC 2019 gallery at RegularJoes.com. • Episode 306: 3, 2, 1 . . . Clap
Unparalleled in its superfluity, epic in its lack of direction, this week's episode reaches new heights in its utter uncompromising randomness. We do some random topics, discuss the pitfalls of wearing a black tee shirt to a Comic Con, but never quite resolve an alternative. We reflect on the merits of ABC's Stumptown, give passing mention to Evil on CBS and Prodigal Son on Fox. Also, without specifically mentioning the 8th film in the Skywalker saga, agree collectively (that almost never happens) on who should be overseeing the Star Wars franchise for Disney. Somewhere along the way Barry expresses his profound sympathy for the sad fate of billionaire x4 George Lucas. And finally Tod does a live unboxing of a mediocre unlicensed 1/6 scale figure he lost interest in not long after preordering. Note if you are interested in a fairly generic female action figure in a leather jacket reach out to Tod. Thats pretty much it. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 305: Holy ... Grail, Batman
Barry was out of Town and Tod managed to break himself, but they still found time to squeeze out an episode ... eventually. This week the Regular Joes feast their coveting eyes on the Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia Treasures from Film and Television Auction catalog. Have you ever felt owning a screen worn 1989 Batman costume would make your life complete? How a about that original Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet you have been meaning to pick up? If you have a few 100,000 in British pounds laying about this could be your chance. Check out the the catalog online and pick out your own personal holy grail ... or perhaps the Grail Tablet from Indiana Jones and the last Crusade. You might even start Christmas shopping early for your three favorite podcast hosts. Also Random Topics, and catch up on Barry and Dave's current projects with What's on My Workbench. • Episode 304: Watch Men
It's fall. The days get shorter, the nights get colder and once more we abandon any pretense of physical activity in favor of hitting the couch to ingest unhealthy quantities of processed TV product. On the menu this fall are the usual (perennial?) returning favorites along with a bevy of newish offerings to help fill the long nights to come. As they do each year at this time, the Regular Joe's have offered themselves as guides to help you navigate your course through the good, the bad, and the unwatchable that will make up the 2019 through 2020 TV season. Find out what new shows they're most looking forward to, as well as which returning shows they are ready to let go of. Mostly, you, like everyone else, will probably want to check out Stumptown. All this plus Random Topics and What's in the Box. Check out pictures of our WiTB items RegularJoes.com. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 303: What We Left Behind
This week the Regular Joes take a look a the What We Left Behind (2019) Ira Steven Behr's sort of documentary ... but mostly tribute to, Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Not unlike its subject, this crowd funded project is both quirky and hard to follow ... but some of you may want to watch it anyway. We will tell you who, and why. Now that we are all caught up on the first season of Amazon's The Boys and the final season of FX's Legion we take a last, mostly spoiler free, pass at these two dark, and at times unsettling, comic book adaptations. All this plus What's in The Box and a round of Internet based RJ Picks. Check out pictures and links at RegularJoes.com. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 302: ... In a Galaxy Not So Far Away
We're back! Barry and Dave have returned from parallel family vacations to California. Most notable among their west coast adventures were trips the Galaxy's Edge the recently added Star Wars attraction at Disneyland. Find out whether their experience lives up the the hype, or at least, their expectations. What did they see, what did they try, and what did they buy, or... acquire through "other means." Meanwhile, back in New England Tod had the chance to experience a Star Wars related cultural event of another sort altogether. Oh, right, and there's also the usual Random Topics. Check out the Barry and Dave's Galaxy's Edge gallery at RegularJoes.com. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 301: And So It Goes
With their milestone 300th episode behind them the Regular Joes settle back into the normal routine. They catch up on the usual Random topics, including first reactions the the nasty break up of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. When these things happen it's always the kids that suffer, and in this case it's Spider-Man. They also work in a round of What's in the Box and ponder the very heavily rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney plus. Check out pictures and links at RegularJoes.com. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 300: Crystal Skulled
We have been threatening to do this forever and it has finally happened. For our 300th episode we take on Indiana Jones And the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull rewatching the film, in some cases fo the first time since 2008. Long time listeners will recall that the term "Crystal Skulling" began with Barry's one time effort to convince us that Crystal Skull is "not that bad." You can listen along as we provide a running commentary putting that hypothesis to the test. If you want to watch with us Crystal Skull is currently on Netflix and available for purchase as a download on several other platforms. SPOILER yeah, it's actually quite bad, but we have a good time anyway. While it is possible alcohol consumption is a factor, we do manage to find some good mixed in (or is it buried under?) the overly talky, and complicated plot. The truth is, for six years we have just enjoyed having the chance to get together once a week and this episode is no different. If you have been with us for 300 episodes, or this is your first, as always ... Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 299: Turn it Up to Eleven
We gave you a whole month to watch, so if we are spoiling Stranger Things season 3 it is your own fault. Netflix perennial young adult, horror, fantasy favorite is back, and we might argue, back on track. This summer the Duffer Bros. take on 1980's otherworldly weirdness adds a Mall and Russians. So really, how could they go wrong? We also take a quick look at the various other summer series we are watching, find time to work in some Random Topics, and a round of What's in the Box. Check out pictures and links at RegularJoes.com and join us next week for our 300th Episode. Thanks for listening!
