  • Episode 279: MAR-VELLous
Captain Marvel is the 21st Marvel film since 2008, and the first to be fronted by a female hero. Or as the Kree say ... A noble warrior hero. It's pretty much a given that Tod will loveI this, find out what Barry and Dave thought, if it met their expectations, and where they think Marvel's newest character will go from here. There's also the inevitable rundown of their personal top five Marvel films as well as a retrospective look at the nine Marvel introduction/origin films to date. All this plus a random sampling of Random topics. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 278: Whiskey Cadaver
Now that the Oscars and all those overproduced, overhyped award shows are done with it's time for the one that really matters. In this episode we reveal the winners of the 2018 Joecademy awards. Where, you the listener get to pick the winners. SPOILER: Get used to hearing "Infinity War" a lot. We also take peek at the pilot episode of "Whiskey Cavalier" the show Lauren Cohen fled the Walking Dead for. Is it better? Well, at least she won't have to be pregnant for three years on this show. All this plus the Usual Random Topics and a round of What's In The Box, and a dramatic reading of listener comments. Thanks for Listening

  • Episode 277: Just Hit Record
Three guys get together and talk about whatever comes to mind. Sounds like the formula for every episode of the Regular Joes Podcast, right? Believe it or not there is usually some sort of plan. In this ep there is no plan, no theme, not even any segments. We just turn the mics and record. Did it work? That's really up to you to decide. Warning: there may be spoilers about two-year-old episodes of The Americans and Last week's episode of Discovery. And, in a shocking turn, Tod And Dave reveal they don't like The Last Jedi. So, yeah pretty much a normal episode. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 276: The Umbrella Patrol
So here's the pitch, eccentric rich dude searches the world for super powered misfits then brings them back to his mansion to train as a superhero team. Sounds like the X-Men, right? Wrong. This week two very similar themed comic-based shows debuted. Doom Patrol on DC's streaming service and Umbrella Academy on Netflix. To help compare and contrast these shows the Regular Joes bring in Derryl DePriest, noted authority on comics and all things toy related. But first there's some Random Topics, a round of What's in the Box and a deep dive into rumors surrounding an Obi Wan Kenobi series on Disney's impending streaming service. With four hosts on deck It's like getting 33% more Regular Joes for the same low, low price! Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 275: It's Worth More in the Original Packaging
This week the Regular Joes take a look at The Prop Store's Vintage Toys and Collectables Live Auction, running February 28th to March 2nd. If you love vintage Star Wars Toys much more than you love large piles of cash, this is the auction for you. The Toys look awesome, the estimates are steep. But, If you are looking for a vintage Remco Hulk Utility Belt, this will be a don't miss event. First up we cover the usual Random Topics, squeeze in a round of My Favorite Things, and weigh in on the question, do we really need another JJ universe Star Trek film? Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 274: Nom, Nom, Nom
Each year we painstakingly evaluate, consider, advise, consent, and ultimately decide who and what should be on the annual Joe-cademy Awards listener Ballot. This time around, when it came time to nominate the actors, creators, and films on this year's ballot, we tried something different. For the first time ever, we pull back the curtain, open the (thankfully metaphoric) kimono, and let you see (actually hear) how the sausage gets made. We should warn you, it aint pretty. In the end we are still all speaking to one another . . . and there is a ballot you can fill out at regularjoes.com. But first we cover some random topics and take a peek at what's on each of the Joes work benches. Thanks for listening . . . and for voting!

  • Episode 273: Nerd Nirvana
We live in the age of "Nerd Nirvana." There is more geek content than people can consume. Or at least people who ever leave their mom's basement. There is a DC channel (2 if you count the CW), a Star Trek channel and soon a Marvel/Star Wars Channel. Most every big-name superhero has appeared on the big screen. One is even up for an Academy Award. Nearly every Sci Fi property worth mentioning is under option to, if not in production by, one company or another. This begs the question, what do we not have? Are there props no one has ever made, or action figures and statues as of yet unproduced? What fantasy or Sci Fi stories still need to be told? What remaining superhero's would you want to see on the big screen ... or the small screen? Have all the Nerd mountains really been climbed? All this plus What's in the Box, and a random sampling of Random Topics. Thanks for listening.

  • Episode 272: Re-Discovery
Discovery is back. So yeah, we talk a lot about that. Not everyone loved the first season, and the Joes get into the ways season 2 dials into what some may have thought was missing. Tod it seems has a man crush on the new Capt. Pike (Anson Mount), but this is made less awkward by Dave once again extolling the many virtues of Tom Cruise. We add a new segment, my Favorite Things where the Joes, and Julie Andrews, pick the things they like best at the moment. All this plus the usual Random Topics and…oh, right, Barry went to the Discovery Season Two Premiere and hung out with the cast. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 271: UFOs, Vampires and Hot Aunt May
Now that it's clear 2019 isn't going away anytime soon the Joes finally get around to highlighting the things they are looking forward to in the year ahead. The TV series, new and returning, the films (even a few not from Disney/Marvel/Star Wars blockbuster machine) and the shows and events on their radar. Before that the guys take a first look at the History Channel's Project Blue Book and Fox's adaptation of Justin Cronin's The Passage. All this plus What's in the Box, and Random Topics. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 270: The Future Isn't What it Used to Be
On this week's episode the Regular Joes take a look back (or is it forward?) at the year 2019 as predicted in three Sci Fi films, Blade Runner (1982), The Running Man (1987) and The Island (2005.) What do these three very different films get right, what did they get wrong ... and why do we still not have flying cars? All this as well as the usual Random Topics and What's in the Box. Thanks for Listening!
