You don’t have to believe in astrology to learn what the current retrograde is trying to teach us about releasing old patterns. And we don’t have to be in retrograde to understand its point, its power.
Astrology is just another archetypal tool, a celestial map of the goddesses and gods.
Retrograde, the rare period a planet appears to move backwards across the sky, reminds us to look at our own movement. It reminds us that we can’t always march forward, work outward, do, progress, produce. Reminds us that we need fall and winter as much as we need summer and spring.
Most people think of retrogrades as a time to hermit and hide, but that’s because there’s so much work to do on the inside. The surface is roiling, but that’s because the depths are swirling with reflection, with illumination, with transformation.
In this episode we dive straight into those depths. We take all that energy we pour outside of ourselves every day, and shine it back on ourselves.
We shine it into our depths, our unconscious. We discover which patterns, value systems, and conditioned responses no longer fit, no longer serve, and are ready to be released.
We uncover soul truths that are ready to emerge from the shadows and bask in the light.
Topics Explored in Episode 91:
0:00 – Welcome to episode 91, where we dive into the shadow realm of self. In this episode we take a look around the basements of our beings, we do some reflective exercises to help us become aware of what lies in our shadows. Specifically, we talk about recognizing what unconscious patterns we are ready to grow out of, and how to find the courage, the soul stamina to say “yes” to transformation with grace and ease.
2:35 – This podcast also marks a new season in ReWilding for Women. This episode was recorded as a Facebook LIVE in our ReWilding for Women public Facebook group.*
*The ReWilding for Women Facebook group where this was recorded has been dissolved as the organization continues to evolve and adapt to best serve the moment.
10:18 – Wherever you are called to meet us, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, we would love to meet you there. And if you are called to try a workshop, we have a free hour-long divine feminine embodiment practice that will take you below the mental realms, in your body, into Shakti, into Kundalini.
11:30 – Retrograde highlights when we are ready to grow out of absorbed value systems and thinking patterns. And it becomes this internal struggle between following your heart, your soul, and feeling, selfish, like a bad person for leaving this old conditioning behind, for choosing to release old patterning. For becoming the rainbow sheep of the family.
15:35 – Retrograde is basically shadow work, bringing light to the shadows, making the unconscious conscious, showing us where we are ready to evolve.
Reflective practice: in a really open, radically honest space read through all the comments we compiled from the Facebook LIVE. They can be found here on this episodes “Deepening Practice and Reflective Questions” page were people describe what limiting beliefs they are being called to release like “Follow through to the end no matter what.” “It is dangerous to speak my truth.” And so many more…
20:42 – Shadow work isn’t easy, going into the darkest, scariest parts of our beings isn’t a small feat. So when we find an exercise or a person that can take us there, it’s incredibly powerful. Because the things locked in the basement, in the underworld, they are bits of soul, of self, of authentic aliveness. And every time we excavate one, we become more alive, awake, aware, more conscious.
24:45 – You don’t have to believe in astrology to receive the gift of retrograde. Astrology is just a cosmic map of the archetypes. And usually they are marching forward, looking outward, working externally. And then imagine instead of working their magic, your magic, in that direction, they are turning around to face you, to dive straight into you. And the work becomes internal, reflective, insightful. Let the archetypes give you an opportunity to see things in a new way, to slow things down so they arise in a way that enables you to see them in a new light.
28:37 – This retrograde helps us see when these structures (thanks to Saturn), thought patterns (Gemini), and relationships (Venus) no longer fit. Retrograde turns up the heat so the pain of staying the same finally outweighs the fear of changing, and all the repercussions that come with it. So where in your system are things getting a little hot, a little painful? And how hot do they have to get before you evolve, before you hop the fence, before you embrace the rainbow sheep within?
35:31 – Can we use this opportunity, this intense retrograde season, to hop the fence a little quicker? Can we get more comfortable with change, with our own evolution? Releasing old patterns can be so challenging. How do you know when it’s time to change, how does your system let you know?
In this episode’s “Deepening practice and Reflective Questions” page you will find comments like “anger,” “I want to hermit, numb out, get irritable,” “I feel it in my gut,” all under the second list on that page. We invite you to use this as a tool, a way to feel into your own personal experience and what is currently present for you!
42:31 – So now what? The heat’s cranked up, we know our markers, now what? Now we find, develop, cultivate the soul stamina to hop the fence sooner, to trust our evolution, our shift in consciousness, our soul! We start to trust our inner voice more and more and more. We find resources, spaces, relationships that encourage our growth, that cheer us over the fence. And that will be different for each of us, so you have to go out and find it for yourself.
47:11 – If ReWilding for Women has a purpose, it’s this. To help nourish that authentic spark within you, that love spark, that divine spark, that soul spark and to love it up. To love it out into the world so it can freely, authentically, fully express itself, yourself.
49:29 – Ending question: Since this pattern interrupt, societal interrupt hit, what are you called to bring into the world? It can be personal or global. What is your soul craving more of? For ReWilding, we have a feeling of “just go for it.” That and “bringing the sacred to the mundane.”
57:27 – If it ever feels right, authentic, true to share this video/podcast with others, please do. Invite them to our Facebook, our YouTube, to wherever. Just when it feels right to share the goodness, we are so grateful. Big love to all of you!!!
