In the wake of a "Punxsatawney Phil" prediction that spring is fast approaching, Congressman Rob Wittman calls in for his regularly scheduled, monthly conversation with John. Dominating that discussion is talk about the crisis at Texas' section of the U.S. Southern Border (and the prospective impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas).
With Democrats in Virginia's General Assembly contemplating the elimination of the United Daughters of the Confederacy's tax-exempt status, John welcomes two members of the group to the show this morning: historian Teresa Roane and Dawn Diehl, who is the Virginia District President. Dawn and Teresa tell John more about the Daughters and what the group's role is in the community.
To start with this Friday morning, John checks in as scheduled with ABC News Correspondent Jordana Miller, who offers a live-from-Jerusalem update on the War in Israel/Gaza.
Finally this Thursday, John gets a call from Craig Hudgins, a lead trucker participating in the convoy en route to the Texas segment of the U.S. border, as a show of support to the Lone Star State.
Atop the 9 o'clock hour this "Friday Eve," we have the distinct privilege of welcoming to the show none other than women's sports advocate Riley Gaines. John and Riley converse about everything from her own journey to the basic purpose of sports to the importance of protecting the integrity of female competition.
Calling in for his regularly scheduled weekly appearance, former Virginia Governor and European Ambassador Jim Gilmore talks to John about everything from car tax phaseout to the crisis at the Texas segment of the U.S. border to war in Ukraine.
Joining John atop the 8 o'clock hour this Thursday morning is State Senator Chris Head, who calls in to talk about the ongoing 2024 General Assembly session -- and bills/measures on his radar.
Calling in to the show at 7:30 this morning, for his regularly scheduled monthly appearance, is Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. John and Jason talk -- almost exclusively -- about the crisis at the U.S./Texas' border, and about how Jason's office is trying to help show support to Texas Governor Greg Abbott. (John also asks about the still-withheld UVA Shooting Report, which the Attorney General explains that, based on attorney-client rules, he is powerless to publicize without the permission of Mr. Jefferson's University.)
Happy "Friday Eve"! First up this Thursday morning is Yael Levin-Sheldon, who joins John for a conversation about a Democrat initiative at the General Assembly to force children who are student athletes to undergo a mental health assessment before joining a school sports team.
Finally this morning, Delegate Terry Kilgore calls back in to the show, for a conversation with John about the ongoing General Assembly session. (In particular, Delegate Kilgore addresses causes near and dear to Southwest Virginia, the region of the Commonwealth that he represents.)
