In this long awaited episode, we get into the diverse and dynamic journey of Attorney Staci Childs, a remarkable woman who  transitioned from the classroom to the courtroom. Staci, a former teacher turned attorney (and dope rapper), shares her insights and experiences serving on the Texas State Board of Educators, where she actively shapes policies that impact school districts across the state.

As an outspoken advocate for education reform, Staci discusses with me the controversies surrounding curriculum decisions, notably her views on the Prager U curriculum and the challenges posed by groups like Moms for Liberty. Welcome to another episode of Ridgemont4'sfinest-The Podcast. In this episode we are  discussing the stories of black women teachers who have faced profound trauma under the guidance of black women principals. We will be taking some of my most recent  a TikTok videos and turning them into a  raw hour-plus conversation that will leave you inspired and enlightened.

Our guests, experienced educators who have been in the field for years, openly share their experiences, and the emotional and mental toll of navigating the rocky relationships with their educational leaders. We delve into the heart-wrenching moments where these leaders, who were expected to nurture and guide, instead became sources of anguish, pushing educators to the brink and causing them to question if this career was really for them. We explore the broader impact as well- how these leaders have the potential to negatively shape the lives of the young girls on their campuses.

 But within the heartbreak, there is healing. This episode becomes a therapeutic space for these teachers to vent, release, and ultimately let go of the trauma that has haunted them.  These educators reclaim their strength and rediscover their passion for shaping young minds.

The narrative is not one-dimensional. Amidst the struggles, we shine a light on a remarkable principal who defies the stereotypes. Through her leadership, she actively builds up her teachers and staff, proving that being in a position of authority doesn't mean succumbing to the mean-girl archetype. This leader illustrates how the right leadership style can cultivate a thriving and harmonious educational environment.

Oh, and don't forget that we have our comedian/teacher/professor in the building who experienced  an involuntary vacation, also known as a three-week admin leave.  She had a showdown with a student who thought they were auditioning for a comedy roast, but soon discovered they'd met their match!! The student unleashed a barrage of racial insults, and our brave teacher temporarily lost her cool.  So, get ready to hear her side of the story, and maybe some tips on handling the disrespect that comes with the territory.
