Army Coach Matt Sherman, Iona Coach Bruce McLane

WEST POINT - College rugby is alive and well and the Army vs Iona match was certainly worth the price of admission - had there been one. Think about that. We're still at the point where we can watch top college rugby programs in person - for free. Not sure about you, but we'll take advantage of that any day. And getting Army Head Coach Matt Sherman and Iona Head Coach Bruce McLane on camera, side-by-side, represents the charm and refreshing accessibility that still exists on the American rugby landscape. Hopefully that won't completely fade away as this great game continues to grow. But hey, let's enjoy it while it lasts, right? With that, our Matt McCarthy and always-savvy Steve Lewis lift the hood on this blossoming rivalry of two completely different rugby cultures. Aside from the aforementioned Sherman and McLane interview, valuable intel was also given by their respective Assistant Coaches, Dave Katz and Dave Flemister.
