Welcome to episode 257 of the Love Live Connection podcast, How I Found Love Part 5. Last time we left off, I discussed how dating went completely on the back burner while working on the Obama campaign. During that year, I worked like crazy and wasn’t really taking care of myself. When the campaign concluded, I didn’t really regain my energy, so I changed my approach to food and exercise. I reinvented myself, became a vegan for a time and soon afterwards, I got a job in Washington D.C. and was ready to meet my future nice Jewish boy. Now, let’s move full steam ahead to part 5!
6:34 - My six-week romance with a banker in Washington D.C.
9:42 - What my best guy friend told me that changed everything
14:37 - The fateful chat invitation I received to a Happy Hour

Welcome to episode 256 of the Love Live Connection podcast! I’m always talking about, thinking about, doing, and coaching my clients on inner child work. But I know it can feel a little awkward. So if you like the idea of doing inner child work but have misgivings for whatever reason, then this coaching conversation with Debra will be helpful for you to listen to. I walk her through how she can get over that barrier so that she’s able to connect deeply with herself without cringing, and it’ll help her attract a more emotionally available partner as a bonus.
7:10 - A wish to re-ignite the desire to date
13:25 - How 5-year old Debra coped when trying to be accepted for who she is
20:25 - This decision serving as a turning point for her

31:25 - What she can commit to right now
38:17 - Wrapping up the coaching call with a review and some takeaways

Welcome to episode 255 of the Love Live Connection podcast, How I Found Love Part 4. Previously in part 3, after hitting a low point, things in Charleston were beginning to look up. I loved my new city, had a great job, and quickly developed a great group of friends. I also dated someone for the first time who was respectful and actually wanted to be with me, and I found new confidence that allowed me to dodge a bullet with another guy. Then Obama’s people called me, and that’s where I continue my story now.
4:23 - A missed call and grueling days on the Obama campaign
7:23 - Why I was obsessed with my weight, despite being physically fit
11:59 - How ditching dieting and becoming a vegan helped me practice self-love

Welcome to episode 254 of the Love Live Connection podcast! This is the second coaching episode I have around pandemic dating. As you’ll learn in this call with Angela, the pandemic isn’t really the problem. She’s had quite a few relationships that started off well but ended shortly thereafter and can’t seem to get past the first date. During our call, we delve into her love life before the pandemic, the kind of people she’s attracting now, her parents’ relationship with each other and with her, feeling the need to walk on eggshells growing up, and navigating how to connect with potential partners and bring more feminine energy to the process while still in the middle of a pandemic.
4:07 - What Angela’s love life was like prior to the pandemic
8:47 - Comparisons to her parents’ relationship affecting Angela’s dating approach
12:42 - A little experiment with 10-year old Angela
17:53 - What Angela tells herself when she goes online
23:59 - Making our online connections more like our offline connections
27:57 - The need for both masculine and feminine energy in relationships
32:35 - Angela’s big takeaway from this coaching call
36:15 - Wrapping it up with a quick review

Welcome to episode 253 of the Love Live Connection podcast, How I Found Love Part 3. You might remember that after breaking up with my college sweetheart, I moved to Jerusalem for grad school and had two back-to-back relationships with people who didn’t want to be with me. Despite my love for travel and living abroad, it was one of the darkest times in my life and look back on it now with mixed emotions. It got to the point where I couldn’t handle my emotions anymore, so I reached out to a therapist. That brings us to part 3, which I like to call “learning how to adult.”
4:54 - Moving back to South Carolina and feeling like a complete person for the first time
10:25 - My relationship with a nice Jewish boy just a few months later
13:08 - Why that relationship was so significant to me
15:09 - A situation that showed me how far I had come

Welcome to episode 252 of the Love Live Connection podcast. This episode really highlights why inner child work is so incredibly important. So much of our romantic life has to do with us replaying out old wounds and issues from mom and dad (or lack thereof) and childhood. My caller today Mariela is doing all the things--swiping, going on dates, trying to be open and vulnerable, trusting other people--and it keeps blowing up in her face. As you’ll quickly realize, it’s not surprising that she’s facing this given her backstory. Even if you can’t really relate to her experiences, I still encourage you to be curious about connecting some of the dots.
5:00 – Mariela describes the pattern her dating life has taken
9:53 - 12-year old Mariela not getting love, support, or understanding from her parents
15:58 - When conditional love or unconditional love is appropriate
22:25 - Doing some inner child work on the call with Mariela
29:47 - A sign to know when you’re in a good place with the healing process
33:34 - Summarizing the coaching call with Mariela and some action steps

Welcome to a special Valentine’s Day episode of the Love Live Connection podcast! A lot of times I hear women say that they’re deserving of love and love themselves, they know that they’re a great catch, they give themselves bubble baths, and so on. All of these things are great. Yet, when they’re in a relationship the love isn’t there; there’s murky boundaries, they’re not feeling very supported or seen by their partner, they’re attracting partners who exhibit toxic behavior, etc.
I know for some of you this day is no big deal. Others, however, find it difficult because it reminds you of what you want but don’t have. Maybe you switch from camp to camp or are somewhere between the two. But wherever you are, I want to help you take your self-love practices and apply them to your dating life and relationship.
6:00 - Boundaries are the application of self-love
8:38 - Relationships not being about compromise
11:19 - How to shift your perspective when paying for therapy

Welcome to episode 251 of the Love Live Connection podcast, How I Found Love Part 2. I’m excited to be chatting with you all again! In this episode, I give a quick recap of what I discussed in the first episode of this series. Then, I talk about my romantic adventures living abroad as a grad student, including facing denial and desperation regarding a guy I was crushing on hard, and seeking help through therapy for the first time.
11:52 - The major problem in my romantic relationship with a guy in Ramallah
17:24 - Totally crushing on someone at the organization where I interned as a graduate
19:59 - My obsession to keep the relationship going
24:02 - Feeling like I wasted almost two years of my 20s while living abroad

Welcome to episode 250 of the Love Live Connection podcast. This is going to be a really good episode to share with a friend. If there’s anything that’s a catalyst for late-night Googling or reaching out to me, it’s a breakup, especially one they can’t get over and feel they should because it happened a long time ago or the relationship wasn’t super serious or long-lasting anyway.
Getting over a breakup is really two-fold: it’s getting over both the person and the relationship. The former is usually easier than the latter, but a lot of times we conflate the two. We can even know that the person wasn’t right for us or didn't treat us well. Yet, we’re still hung up on them and the relationship which can further contribute to inner turmoil. So if you can relate to that, you’ll love this conversation with Rachel.
6:52 – Making a relationship mean something or it giving us something we can’t give ourselves
12:30 - How it’s really about Rachel’s relationship with her dad and filling the masculine void
17:47 - Rachel getting things off her chest and talking to me as if I’m her dad
25:16 - Recapping the coaching call and 5 steps to help if you’re struggling to get over an ex
