We’re living in a swipe right, swipe left world. Online dating sites have existed since even before Match.com became a thing in the mid 1990s. But now? New dating apps aren’t just popping up all the time, they’ve gotten niche-y with it too!
In addition to the mainstream ones, you can find dating sites based on a religion, others for farmers and other rural area dwellers, etc. Whatever demographic you can think of, a dating app probably exists for it by now.
Recently, Pew Research Center did a study on online dating in the U.S. that I found interesting and want to share with you. In it, they discovered 12 key takeaways, some of which aren’t so surprising while others definitely caught me off guard.
I won’t talk about all 12 due to length of time. But in this episode of the Love Life Connection podcast, you’ll learn six of the key findings Pew discovered about online dating in the U.S. and what they might mean for you and your love life. Even if you’re not from the U.S., you’ll still want to listen to this episode as so much of it still can apply internationally.
8:05 - A surprising takeaway about dating site and app usage among adults
10:03 - The most popular online dating site and why your location matters
14:39 - Why online dating can feel a lot more toxic to some people
20:43 - How women and men feel after using online dating platforms over the past year
25:55 - What dating algorithms can’t do and the right mindset to have when you use a dating app
29:17 - A takeaway people are split on that I’m hesitant to talk about

Ever feel like there’s something missing in some area of your life or that you’re meant to be doing something else?
Perhaps you’ve been in it (whatever it is) for a while but have had this nagging feeling that there’s a piece you could fit into the puzzle to make it even better. Or you want to change things up a bit because it’s become stale.
The answer to your biggest nagging question can often be found right in front of you. I love doing relationship coaching. But I’ve been feeling like there’s something else to do in my business for the last six or 12 months, at least. I didn’t figure out what, though, until a sudden realization hit me on my birthday last December.
So there are changes coming to Love Life Connection. In this episode, you’ll learn about what it is, how the idea for it came about, why I’m pursuing this, and what you can expect to be different from now on.
2:05 - What sparked the change coming (and how it contradicts something I’ve said on this show)
12:09 - The astrological connection between love and money
17:47 - What’s changing and why I’m so passionate about it
20:31 - Where you’ll actually see the biggest impact
26:38 - Examples of what having your money run you looks like
31:17 - Introducing the Run Your Money workshop and what you’ll get if you sign up

What do the law of attraction have in common with Christianity?
You’ve probably run into the law of attraction idea of “attracting” circumstances, events, and people into your life based on your beliefs or “vibration” or whatever. Even if what you’re consuming isn’t specifically about the law, it can’t help but pervade personal growth spaces the same way Judeo-Christian standards pervade society even if you don’t identify as Christian.
And this plays a part in a big misconception about inner child work (or personal growth, in general)-- the idea that doing it makes you invincible to problems. If trouble arises in your relationship, for example, then it’s because you didn’t do enough healing and still need to work on yourself.
But there’s only so much work that inner work can do. And this brings me to today’s coaching call on the Love Life Connection podcast. Laura doesn’t like who she’s been attracting in relationships. So she wanted to know how she can be better as a partner without sacrificing too much of herself.
But is she the problem, or is something else going on? In this episode, you’ll learn how to know where you need to grow or heal yourself and when it’s time to just kick the other person to the curb. I’ll also talk about why Laura’s question is such a loaded one and how you can start a relationship off on the right foot.
7:35 - The root of what’s really behind Laura’s dilemma
14:06 - How Laura’s difficulty with boundaries ties back to her parents’ relationship
22:27 - Why you should look at boundary setting from a win-win perspective
25:20 - Where Laura should focus her attention more (instead of on who she’s attracting)
34:09 - Wrapping up with a recap of the call with Laura
37:00 - How you can start a relationship off right from the beginning
41:42 - The power of inner child work to make boundary-setting easier

You just found out the person you’re dating is going through a divorce that hasn’t been finalized yet. Do you pump the breaks on it? And if so, could you actually be convinced not to?
Talk about a hot take! Obviously, not everyone feels the same way. For many people, though, this situation is an immediate deal breaker, and you might be one of them. (In fact, many of my clients agree; I’ve got the DMs and emails to prove it).
But if you find yourself in this scenario, unless there are other red flags in your relationship, it’s at least worth thinking about from a different perspective. It might even surprise you to know that open marriages are quite common, including among people you’ve definitely heard of.
In this episode of Love Life Connection, you’ll learn the story of billionaire investor Warren Buffet’s open marriage and the benefits of staying married even after the love is gone. I also talk about red flags to beware of if you’re dating someone in this situation, as well as the business of marriage and how it still applies if you’re dating and living together.
5:59 - The open marriage of Warren Buffett (and why it was beneficial)
9:32 - The two parts to a relationship (and which part to watch for any red flags)
15:07 - How marriage is like a business
19:31 - The separate or combined accounts conundrum
22:13 - Another area you need to get clear on to have the space for romance in a marriage
25:36 - What if you’re living together but not married?
29:43 - My goal for you when it comes to dating and money

As a Capricorn, I have an innate love for personal finance. I can nerd out and consume things like investing, budgeting, saving, paying off debt, and more for days. But I also believe that we relate to money the same way we relate to the people we date. In fact, we tie our worthiness to these things, especially women.
So how are they similar, and how do you decouple your self-worth from your finances and your love life? In this episode, I talk about the connection between where you spend money and who you date.
9:30 - The investment I used to make while dating and the policy that changed everything
13:50 - A common pattern I’ve noticed in some clients who use the same policy
16:21 - The parallels between your romantic relationships and your relationship with money
20:03 - What happens when you let money control you instead of you controlling it
25:26 - How to get control of your money so that it doesn’t control you
30:39 - A really shitty way to live that some personal finance gurus, nevertheless, recommend
36:30 - A little juicy preview of an upcoming episode

There are a lot of great people out there for you to date. And any one of them can mark off all the checkboxes you have in your head or on paper for what makes the perfect match for you.
But how do you really know they’re the right person for you? This might be an especially pertinent question you ask yourself if you’ve dated more than your fair share of studs who turned out to be duds.
That’s the dilemma that today’s caller, Lisa, faces. She’s actually a former client of mine and in this episode, she talks about what it was like for her before and after coaching and what she’s been able to accomplish through our work together.
9:32 - Why Lisa initially reached out to me
11:21 - The best thing Lisa got out of her therapy and why she still needed coaching help
16:34 - Where Lisa’s at right now and a recent relationship experience that set off alarm bells in her head
21:59 - How Lisa wants to approach her next relationship (and why it might not be what she’s actually looking for)

I have a deep interest in the political and the personal. I was in the political space before I started my coaching business, and I’ve been interested in personal development since I was little.
What drove me in my previous career, in a way, still drives me now: a deep frustration with the inequality of the status quo. I began to see the connection of one’s personal experience with what was going on in the broader picture of society.
What is that broader picture? In this episode, I talk about how the recent U.S. midterm reflects a certain relationship dynamic, as well as discuss a recent study about why men feel lonelier than ever before and how that affects heterosexual women looking for a relationship.
2:19 - Why I had to leave working in politics behind and society’s double standards for men and women
9:53 - Republican media response to the Democrat's success in the 2022 midterms and the relationship dynamic it resembles
14:32 - Why young and middle-aged men are the loneliest they’ve been in a generation
16:08 - What does this mean for women looking for a man?
18:48 - What I’m asking of you if you’re a woman seeking a relationship with a man
