This episode finally sees our heroes asking “whodunnit?” Meredith, however, is the only one presenting a suspect and it’s not only one of our heroes, but one of the victims of the killer: Alaric! This prompts Damon to all of a sudden remember a similar string of murders from 1912 - conveniently a year Stefan was dealing with some of the same issues he’s dealing with right now! Crazy! Meanwhile, Rebekah is desperate for information on trees, which no one seems to tell her about despite not being suspicious at all. Also, romantic vibes are sort of in the air for Matt and Elena? What the hell is THAT about?
