Flo Foxworthy started sewing when she was seven years old, with a dream to make costumes for the movies. By the age of 18 she had launched her own business making bikinis and costumes for exotic dancers. These days she is the head of the Textiles Department at Weta Workshop, making creature suits for Hollywood films such as Ghost in the Shell, The Hobbit Trilogy, and Avatar. Yet, she still finds time to make costumes for showgirls, and has created outfits for some of the most well-known performers in the world, including Dita Von Teese. Foxworthy will be speaking at the Fashion Innovation Expo on Friday 28th May at Victoria University of Wellington. During her talk 'Re-imagining textiles through technology', she will discuss ways the industry can integrate various technologies into traditional textiles methodologies - and the possibilities this creates.

It has also produced two bestselling books; The Diary of a Bookseller and Confessions of a Bookseller both of which focus on his shop and its clientele. Covid-19 cases have been spreading through the Everest Base Camp as Nepal deals with a surging outbreak of the virus. Despite this, there has been a record number of climbing permits issued as the Nepali government tries to boost tourism revenue after it suspended the 2020 climbing season. Kiwi mountaineer Guy Cotter has been leading expeditions up Mount Everest since the early 1990s, his company Adventure Consultants was the first to guide paying customers to the summit. Recent events have seen Guy and his business partner Suze Kelly put the company into hibernation for the rest of the year, but he remains concerned about the impact of the virus on the Sherpa community which is already experiencing hardship.

"Racists Anonymous: the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop being racist." Tainui Tukiwaho is the director of Racists Anonymous, a new show at Auckland's Te Pou Theatre, Aotearoa's only independent kaupapa Maori-led theatre venue. Tukiwaho co-founded Te Pou, and leads the Maori-language-driven Te Rehia Theatre Company. Since graduating from Unitec in 2001 he has worked as an actor, director, producer, and writer. As an actor, he is most well known for his 2011 portrayal of Kiwi icon Billy T James in Billy.

Before coming to public attention as a peanut butter baron Pic Picot had already lived a full and picaresque life. By the time he was 21, he had earned enough from making leather goods to pay for his first OE. Back in New Zealand, he took to furniture-making, learning the trade from an English craftsman. He quickly learned that giftware sold better at Christmas than bespoke tables. Pic's Panic Packs - glass-fronted emergency boxes of tea-bags, cigarettes, condoms, and toilet paper - proved quick to make and were easy and fun to sell. It wasn't until he had retired that he started making peanut butter. He sold a few jars at the local farmers' market. Twelve years later he opened his third factory, Pic's Peanut Butter World. Today he employs 50 people and exports throughout the world. He's just released a book: Pic: Adventures in Sailing, Business and Love.

Christina Sweeney-Baird's debut novel The End of Men is centred around a global virus to which women are immune and which kills 90 percent of the world's men. It all seems very timely, but was actually prescient, as the book was completed in 2019.

Documentary filmmaker Peter Young discusses his biggest project to date - the battle to save Aotearoa's native species from an army of predators. Every year, introduced predators devour the eggs and chicks of 26 million native New Zealand birds, as well as countless insects, amphibians, reptiles and plants. In 2016 Predator Free 2050 began, targeting rats, stoats and possums. It is Aotearoa's most ambitious conservation effort ever and involves hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders. Peter Young's Fight for the Wild documents the battle to protect native species and explores the idea of a Predator Free 2050. The first episode of the four-part documentary and the podcast will be released on RNZ on 10 May. The series will also screen on TVNZ 1 from 15 May.
