The United States says it will hold Russia to account for the shooting down of Flight MH17 four years ago over Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ((pom-PAY-o)) has made the pledge at the annual meeting of Australian and US foreign and defence ministers, held near San Francisco.

The ministers discussed a range of issues, including China's expansion throughout the Indo-Pacific, with Mr Pompeo expressing confidence South Pacific nations will side with the United States over China.

Hiwa Osman is the CEO of Mediawan.me since 2011. He leads a creative media and communications agency in Iraq and Kurdistan. He is an award-winning journalist with strong media developments and communications and PR skills.

He was the media advisor for President Jalal Talabani from 2005 to 2008.  He held a number of senior editorial and media development positions and led editorial teams to produce, newspapers, magazines, radio and TV programmes and shows.
Before and during the 2003 war in Iraq, Hiwa was a producer and reporter for the BBC.

Musician Veli Toprak has been involved in the Kurdish community and other communities since the 1980s in Sydney and other states in Australia. He's been an active member in the community by providing his musical services in functions and other events.
