In what is being hailed as a proud moment for members of Punjabi community, it has been confirmed that Punjabi language will now be taught right through from kindergarten to year 10 in NSW public schools.

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਨਿਊ ਸਾਊਥ ਵੇਲਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪਬਲਿਕ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਡਰਗਾਰਟਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਦਸਵੀਂ ਕਲਾਸ ਤੱਕ ਪੜਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇਗਾ।

International students can now get free legal advice through an app that offers information in seven languages. Known as My Legal Mate, it helps students know their rights when it comes to finding a job and accessing housing. 

It also offers advice about handling disputes with education providers and provides support for anyone dealing with sexual assault.

Walking football is a modified version of soccer which is rapidly gaining popularity among the over fifties age group. Since its inception in 2011, more than 800 clubs have already been set up in the UK. Australia is following suit with Football Federation Australia planning to establish 110 walking football hubs across the country in the coming year.

Primary school student Gurmannat Kaur Grewal’s artwork, which is a combination of Punjabi and Aboriginal arts has been chosen for an award by the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools. The Federation caters to 30,000 students from 250 community language schools teaching over 82 languages in New South Wales.
