In July 1989, 21-year-old actress Rebecca Schaeffer was on the brink of a major Hollywood career. Best known for the hit sitcom My Sister Sam, she was preparing to audition for a role in The Godfather Part III when there was a knock at the door of her Los Angeles home. On the other side was Robert John Bardo — an obsessed fan who had been stalking Rebecca for years. What happened next would send shockwaves through Hollywood, expose frightening gaps in America's privacy laws and ultimately change the way stalking was understood and prosecuted. For the Season 15 finale of Seeing Red, we're doing something a little different. This is a Seeing Red x Dead Famous crossover: true crime meets celebrity as we explore not only Rebecca's murder and the disturbing obsession that led to it, but the young woman behind the famous face, her rapidly rising career, the final hours of her life, the investigation that followed and the extraordinary legacy of a case that helped change American law. 🎙️ Dead Famous, Mark's critically acclaimed podcast exploring the extraordinary lives, deaths and legacies of some of the world's most famous people, releases new episodes every Monday. On 2 August 1973, thousands of holidaymakers were enjoying an evening at Summerland, a vast state-of-the-art leisure complex on the seafront in Douglas, Isle of Man. Within minutes, it had become the scene of one of the deadliest fires in modern British history. What began as a small fire outside the building spread with terrifying speed, fuelled by highly combustible materials used in Summerland's construction. As flames engulfed the complex, families desperately tried to escape. By the end of the night, 50 people had lost their lives and scores more had been injured. But the Summerland disaster was more than a tragic accident. Questions would soon emerge about the design of the building, fire precautions, evacuation procedures and a catalogue of decisions that had left thousands of people dangerously vulnerable. This week on Seeing Red, we revisit the devastating Summerland fire: how a holiday attraction billed as a futuristic paradise became an inferno, the lives lost that night, the investigation that followed, the eye witness testimony from survivors, and why one of the worst peacetime fire disasters in British history has largely faded from public memory. http://www.youtube.com/@seeingredtruecrimepodcast www.patreon.com/seeingredpodcast https://www.buymeacoffee.com/seeingredtw www.seeingredpodcast.co.uk Theme music arranged and composed by Holly-Jane Shears: www.soundcloud.com/DeadDogInBlackBag Join our Patreon Find us on YouTube Buy Me a Coffee Visit our website Theme music by Dead Dog in Black Bag Hosted on Acast. This week on Seeing Red, we investigate the chilling case of Adam Hall – a man whose crimes would leave a devastating trail across the North East of England. Behind closed doors, Hall was hiding a secret from the men he met. But as disturbing allegations began to emerge, investigators would uncover something far more calculated – and far more horrifying – than anyone had initially imagined. What followed was an extraordinary investigation involving multiple victims, allegations spanning years, and the discovery that Hall had been warned about the potentially devastating consequences of his actions. Just how many lives had he changed? How much did he know? And, most chillingly of all, why did he do it? This is the shocking story of Adam Hall – and the investigation that exposed the truth. Death of an Artist explores the story of Petra and Michael Mathers, a married couple who remained deeply in love for nearly half a century before making the extraordinary decision to leave the world together. This podcast has gripped both of us lately and we hope you will enjoy it too.

On a seemingly ordinary day in June 1990, 52-year-old Trevaline Evans stepped out of her antiques shop in the picturesque North Wales town of Llangollen... and was never seen again. More than three decades later, despite renewed investigations, arrests and countless theories, nobody knows what became of her. In this episode, we trace the days leading up to Trevaline's disappearance, examine the key evidence, revisit the mysterious sightings that have fuelled speculation for years, and ask the question that has haunted investigators ever since: what really happened to Trevaline Evans? It's a case that sparked one of our most in-depth discussions in a long time, as we explore the competing theories, challenge each other's thinking and try to make sense of a mystery that remains unsolved to this day. As always, we'd love to hear your thoughts. What do you think happened to Trevaline Evans?
