The challenges our vulnerable elder citizens face at the hands of those who are less than scrupulous has been an issue addressed by several organizations, including AARP.
Now that our elder seniors are confined to their homes with no-one able to keep a watchful eye, the risk of falling is a serious concern for families and loved ones, especially since 50% of falls occur in the home.
The Coronavirus, has impacted people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds around the world. Our elder citizens, and especially those who suffer from heart, lung, or immunodeficiency syndromes, smokers and persons with diabetes are at greater risk.
You receive a sudden dreaded phone call: mom or dad has fallen and broken his/her hip and is now hospitalized, or has had a heart attack or stroke which thrusts some people into a situation for which they are not anywhere near prepared.
As our lives change, our homes can support, or limit, our ability to live our lives the way we want. Remaining in our homes may begin to present unexpected challenges.
Twenty-five percent of Connecticut's workforce is at least 55 ears of age and the population 65 years of age is expected to outnumber those under the age of 18 by 2035.
