Sepsis remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children despite improved understanding of the pathophysiology leading to better clinical management and survival. Recent studies have identified several areas that must be addressed by the clinician in order to continue to impact the morbidity and mortality associated with sepsis. In today's episode we talk with Halden Scott, MD about the presentation, management and follow-up care of pediatric patients with sepsis.
Dr. Scott is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician at Children's Hospital Colorado.
