What's behind the title of the show, "Serve Strong Finish Strong"?
In this episode, I introduce a slight pivot in the direction of the podcast. Founders of businesses who are in their 50's and older have a unique set of circumstances. These situations span both their professional and personal lives.
The show will begin to address these unique circumstances. I will explain why the pivot and what you can expect of the future episodes.
I will also address what to do if you are not a business founder.

Stay with me here. We are going to delve into the world of manufacturing. You may be wondering, what in the world does manufacturing have to do with designing a fantastic 4th quarter? Well, my guest is all about asking why. And asking why is a powerful skill as you grow up.
Curiosity and reflection. These are skills that become increasingly important as we age. Without it, we enter the dark abyss of decline without helpful context.
Listen to what Ginette shares and ask yourself, "Am I recovering that curiosity and wonder I once had as a child?"
My guest, (and also a fellow Mission Matters podcast host) Dr. Ginette Collazo established Human Error Solutions (HES), a Florida based boutique consulting firm, where she has been able to position herself as one of the few Human Error Reduction Experts in the world.
Ginette is the author of the book Human Error: Root Cause Determination Model, published in 2008.
FDAnews has called her a “veteran of helping drug, biologic and device firms reduce manufacturing errors,” and the Caribbean Business describes her as “ the missing link in modern business.” Today her Error Reduction System has been implemented in all types of industries worldwide.

Planning for the future. It's a necessary part of growing up. Some might say it's a necessary evil and would rather just live by the seat on your pants.
But there is a distinct difference in living life by default and living life by design.
My guest has enough knowledge for a 4-hour episode. But we're going to keep it to the normal length and pick his brain for as much information as we can.
As you listen, be thinking about how you can make a few adjustments in your planning for your own future.
My guest, Brandon Blackford, has served as an Edward Jones financial advisor since 2011. He believes it’s important to invest his time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money. He also believes that it's important to understand the level of risk you're comfortable accepting when investing so we can balance it with the steps necessary to reach your long-term goals.
Brandon attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in financial management and marketing. Since joining Edward Jones, he has earned the CFP®, CIMA®, CLU®, AAMS® and CRPC® professional designations.

Have you ever felt like you were happy, but....? There was something gnawing at your spirit and you thought maybe it means a change in your life?
How do you know if it's real? If it is real, how do you make the change?
My guest and I talked about how this dynamic is a real thing in people who are approaching, or currently in, their 3rd quarter (40-50's).
Listen as Steve articulates how to know if a shift is worth pursuing in your life.
Steve Jefferys spent 18 years working in the advertising industry in London helping lead large agencies advising multinational clients across a range of sectors. A natural people person, he enjoyed building, maintaining and growing relationships with people and seeing his teams and clients succeed.
In 2020, he made a career shift and, over the last two years, Steve has been building his own coaching practice founded on the experience and successes he had - and helping people from any sector overcome key moments of change - or shift as he calls them - in the workplace and beyond.

Have you ever felt the desire to challenge yourself to jump out of your comfort zone, and everything you know, and do something crazy?
Perhaps you feel like you're on the inside, looking out. Life is squeezing you. Because you're thinking of the number of years ahead versus the number of years behind you. Everything you've built over the, your 20s and 30s, and maybe even 40s has been built. But it's not necessarily yielding what you thought it would when you were building.
Well, whatever the reason is, I have a conversation to share with you. Listen as Susan shares her experience. See if there is something in what she shares that will help you on your journey.
My guest is Susan Rylance. Susan has over 20 years of experience helping companies grow through her unique blend of business development, operations and marketing expertise. She is a performance-driven, focused and trusted executive leader who is known for her high-level of professionalism and calm demeanor.

To get where you're going, you can travel by default and hope you get there, which is risky. Or you can travel by design and greatly increase the probability that you will go further, faster, and with deeper meaning.
In this episode, I pulled an excerpt from a recent coaching session I had with a client who was wrestling with the concept of setting goals.
Perhaps you can relate to my client. If so, I trust this will be a helpful episode for your journey.
