Today, Megan is sitting down with Gracia Burnham. If you don't know her already, Gracia is a Christian missionary who was held hostage and was in captivity for 375 days by Abu Sayyaf, a terrorist group in the Philippines. She has an incredible testament and aspiring story as she has found herself in some of the most tragic and difficult situations that a Christian can endure. Gracia is a widow, mother, grandmother, speaker, author, and friend of Megan's Grammy who led way to their introduction. This is an episode that you won't want to miss.

In today's episode, Megan continues our study into Jonah, specifically verses 4-6. In these verses, we see God continue to reach out to Jonah in his disobedience. The Lord sees Jonah and his running away and He intercedes GREATLY. Friend, the Lord sees where you are TOO- you are not escaping His sight or love. As we enter the Christmas season, which can be so sweet, it can also be a hard time for many of us. It can bring hard reminders, heart ache, sweet but tough memories. Today we are going to talk about comfort and joy for those of us who Christmas might be hard for this year.

I just want to encourage you with a ton of Bible verses about Jesus, our Savior who is also our Comforter, who weeps with us, who IS with us, Immanuel, who understands us. We’ll talk about comfort and joy but even more notably the God who gives us that comfort and joy.

Our God who came down to earth, who’s birth we celebrate, is not far and He knows our hearts, our sorrow, our needs so intimately. And today I want to encourage you with that. Because truly, there are no perfect words. I don’t know what you’re carrying. But I do know the One who does know and the One who is, as we’ll read, the God of all comfort. And so in this episode, I just want to bring you to Him, to give you space to fall at His feet, and to gently encourage you to stay there

Today we are wrapping up our reading study into 2 & 3 John. In these chapters, we see the example of individuals in the church. What does it mean to be a person of God in the body of Christ? How can we promote truth and love as believers? 

We see in these chapters that truth is KEY and love involves truth. This doesn't mean we should use love as an excuse to tolerate false, deceptive teachings. We aren't told to hate either, but we should not excuse or get involved with false teachers. How can we distinguish ourselves as believers? Let's dive in.

Today, we are learning that we are called to LOVE but not always called to ACCEPT. How can learn to balance this as Christians living in this world?

We learn that we are never told to just accept all things, all ideologies, all things – especially those that go against God or are of the world. Because we are from God as believers, we are HIS and He is OURS. This means that our spirit is now from God because His spirit lives within us.  Let’s continue our study into 1 John and focusing on chapters 4 and 5 to dive into how we can love those around us, but not accept the things that aren’t of Jesus.
