The story of five ships will be told in new dessert theatre production called Tall & True: The Ships of Beaubears Island. Shawn McCarthy is the executive director of the Friends of Beaubears Island, and says the event is also a fundraiser to help with a school trip to Africa.

Health officials are warning about an outbreak of pertussis, or whooping cough in Fredericton. Regional medical officer of health Dr. Na-Koshie Lamptey said the highly contagious infection showed up in several schools in the city.
