A team of engineering students at the University of New Brunswick has designed a new and more affordable prosthetic hand for children. Andrew Robart, Brodie Theriault, Sam Guitard, and Scarlett Taviss were showing it off in Toronto this week, at the Canadian Engineering Competition.

People marched in Ottawa on Friday, in honour of Tina Fontaine, Coulten Boushie and Brady Francis. Francis, of Elsipogtog First Nation, was struck and killed by a hit and run on Feb. 24. Carolyn Simon grew up in the community and participated in the march.

Beer lovers gather in Fredericton this week for the annual Craft Beer Festival. It's a chance to meet the brewers and learn more about what makes a great beer - starting with the hops. Josh Mayish grew up with a love of hops, gives talks about it, and also grows it at Darlings Island Farm.

Provincial shelters for women and children used International Women's Day to press their case for more funding. Deborah Westerburg at South Central Transition House said provincial funding has been frozen for the last nine years. Workers are the lowest paid in Canada, and often have to fundraise to get paid, she said.

Inuk Theriault's garage is not what you might expect. Instead of cars or tools, he filled it with fish tanks. And out of those, he's growing lettuce. About a year ago, Theriault and three of his friends started Aquadie Cooperative in Kedgwick. It's an aquaponics business, twinning fish farming and hydroponics, with big dreams of community self-sufficiency.

The Basement Players are about to begin their last tour. The community-based theatre group started more than 30 years ago. Since then, they've evolved from variety shows to plays, and raised more than $100,000 for local charities. Group member Christina Walton said their final tour will benefit the food banks in Hampton and Sussex.
