This week Mary and Dave continue their new series McQuarrying with a review of Zach Creggers newest film Weapons.
Cregger’s first film, Barbarian, was a commercial and critical success – and it was a lot of fun too. Can Creggers’ repeat his success or will it be the sophomore slump instead?
Let Mary and Dave fansplain it for you!
Come with us if you want to live, but if you don’t – no problemo – your fate is in your hands. Hop on board as Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van tell you about their memories of the 1991 blockbuster, and 1997 LA blower upper, Terminator 2.
They, like our heroes, snack on sad cheeseburgers.
With them, they enjoy a drink called The T2 assembled by bartender Jason and consisting of half an ounce each of Vodka, Grand Marnier, Sambuca, Coffee Liqueur and Irish Crème. How did they like it?
They’ll live.
They also create a tribute drink called Ode to Todd. Want to make it?
Review from producer’s wife : Like a gummy candy. Feels like a summer vacation drink and very Millennial.
If you make an Ode to Todd or, better yet, make up one of your own, please send a picture to [email protected] by following this link! Even if you don’t, we’d still love to hear from you. Also let us know what you think of the show and if you have any suggestions for future films.

Here are the lyrics for Thomas’ wonderful rewrite of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”:
We didn’t sneak the dragon
It’s been blastin’
Since the pods been castin’
We didn’t sneak the dragon
No, we didn’t dream it
We just tried to stream it
Sydney Sweeney, Emma Stone, Jane Austen
How bout that dude from Van Halen
Tintin, we have a new Clark Kent
Dollop of Trallope, chick talk
Don’t say Dave looks like Stephen King
Obama, first black president
Maybe even some light deck talk
Covid vaccine, England’s got a new King
We didn’t sneak the dragon
It’s been blastin’
Since the pods been castin’
We didn’t sneak the dragon
No, we didn’t dream it
We just tried to stream it
Milk, eggs, pancake mix
Honey ham and whole wheat bread
Fruity pebbles and the trix
Frozen broccoli, coffee
We didn’t buy the groceries
Now we got nothin’
Just that green mutton
Compleatin’ da Beatles, mysterious horses
Ian knows too much Mario bros. lore
Refreshing memories and listening parties
Fake news– can’t trust your sources
Anora wins, what a snore
Murphy cat, which are better smarties
We didn’t sneak the dragon
It’s been blastin’
Since the pods been castin’
We didn’t sneak the dragon
No, we didn’t dream it
We just tried to stream it
KC’s got a winning team, Solomon Lane
Chris Pine spat on, Nintendo switch
Fansplainers– yes we want some more
Marx bros., Russians in the Ukraine
Ian leaves to make a sandwich
Dave’s throat is getting sore
We didn’t sneak the dragon
It’s been blastin’
Since the pods been castin’
We didn’t sneak the dragon
No, we didn’t dream it
We just tried to stream it
Dark Shadows, R.I.P Hulk Hogan
Andrew Garfield swings on webs again
Let’s all forget Joe Rogan
Donald Trump is prez again
Stephen Colbert going away
What else do I have to say
You’ll never stop the sneakin’
Have no fears
They’ve got dragon tales for years
Like maybe Dave has a rash
Or Ian smokes some hash
We didn’t sneak the dragon
It’s been blastin’
Since the pods been castin’

This week Mary and Dave continue their new series McQuarrying – an overview of Christopher McQuarrie’s movies with Tom Cruise – by going forward into the past to ask, “Who is Keyser Söze?”
Yes, at Mary’s insistence, they watched Christopher McQuarrie’s second screenwriting effort with director Bryan Singer, The Usual Suspects.
A sleek, stylish thriller with a fantastic central performance, it also won McQuarrie an Oscar for Best Screenplay, but it left Mary and Dave a little cold. Why? Well, let them fansplain that for you.
It’s summer so time to get on your Vespa and take a vacation with our hosts Eric Fell, Jason Dedrick and Vicky Van as they recall their first time watching the 1953 classic Roman Holiday.
Espresso fuels their memories and gelato makes them sweeter.
They also make a tribute drink to the film called The Smitty.
Here’s how to make it…
The Producer’s Wife said, “It’s a solid drink. It tastes like the winding down of summer.”
If you make The Smitty or, better yet, make up one of your own, please send a picture to [email protected] by following this link! Even if you don’t, we’d still love to hear from you. Also let us know what you think of the show and if you have any suggestions for future films.
