Mindfulness makes you smarter! Kind of. Science shows that when you practice mindfulness you’re actually building grey matter. You’re hard-wiring your brain to feel calmer, be less reactive, improve digestion, get better sleep, be happier, and become more engaged in what you’re doing.
Mindfulness practices increase the connections between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex. These parts of the brain help us be less reactive to stressors and to recover better & faster from stress when we experience it.
Mind Full vs. Mindful Which are you?
Listen now to learn how practicing mindfulness helps you: * become more aware of your surroundings and your habits * be more present in the moment * reduce stress * improve your ability to meet challenges * increase your sense of well-being * gain greater choice in responding to difficulties, as opposed to reacting automatically or habitually in ways that may actually cause more stress * develop a quieter mind * gain greater ability to concentrate & focus * improve how you experience & manage physical symptoms, including reductions in the severity & impacts of chronic pain * cultivate greater kindness and compassion for yourself and others

Toxic positivity is the belief that no matter how dire or difficult a situation is, people should maintain a positive mindset. It's a "good vibes only" approach to life.
While there are benefits to being an optimist and engaging in positive thinking, toxic positivity instead rejects difficult emotions in favor of a cheerful, often falsely positive, facade.
Toxic positivity takes positive thinking to an overgeneralized extreme.
We all know that having a positive outlook on life is good for your mental well-being. The problem is that life isn't always positive. We all deal with painful emotions and experiences. Those emotions, while often unpleasant, are important and need to be felt and dealt with openly and honestly.
This attitude doesn't just stress the importance of optimism, it minimizes and denies any trace of human emotions that aren't strictly happy or positive.
In today’s episode we talk about toxic positivity in relation to personal wellness.
In today’s episode we talk about toxic positivity in relation to personal wellness, including: * what TP looks like, sounds like, and feels like * forms TP takes * how TP is undesirable & harmful to wellness * how to recognize TP * what you can do instead * importance of valuing the individual * becoming comfortable with negative emotions * how to handle anger * how gender stereotypes can be toxic (shoutout to Marlo Thomas) * what to do to promote your personal well-being and the well-being of the people you love

Billions of dollars are poured into developing medicines to cure our ailments, allergies, and inflammations. However, sometimes these medications don't work right away or at all.
What if it's not a drug alone that can heal us, but also what we eat? In her book How Food Heals: A Look Into Food as Medicine for Our Physical and Mental Health, Emmie Cohen chronicles her long struggle with moderate to severe acne and her eventual realization that the root cause of her acne was from her gut and her diet.
Today's episode is about understanding and adopting a new mindset. Emmie strives to normalize the idea that food can heal, while reminding us that this process takes time and is highly individualized. How Food Heals speaks to curious and driven individuals who want to explore food as medicine in a new way. Emmie’s book is basically a tool to help readers become more educated about the science of how our bodies interact with the foods we eat.

How many times have you written off signals until the relationship ended, at which point you could look back and the signs seem so obvious, once you have a bit of emotional distance? So often we dismiss, disregard or make excuses for things that we really need to pay attention to.
Today we’re talking about relationship red flags. A red flag is a good intuitive image to help you process what you’re really feeling.
The red flags we’re talking about today can apply to romantic relationships, friendships, or your interactions with family. We identify six (plus one more BONUS flag!) specific red flags that we’ve experienced ourselves, interpret what they may mean, and offer suggestions for what you can do to handle these situations.
We even created the acronym DRAD just for you, to help you know what to do when you encounter signs that you’re in a toxic relationship.
From gaslighting to guilt trips, we’ve got you covered. Listen now, and enjoy the benefits of positive relationships as you progress on your wellness journey!
