Welcome to week 2 of our Monday podcasts! Each week we will consider ways to incorporate small daily changes to our spiritual rhythms in hopes of experiencing big faith gains in our lives.Â
Â
This week we have Libin Abraham joining us, my Pastor here in Dallas. Pastor Libin has an amazing reminder of the “why-to” behind reading our Bibles. It’s a critical precursor to the “how-to”” of reading God’s Word, which we’ll begin next Monday.Â
Â
If you’re anything like me, you have a long history of feeling guilty for not spending enough time in God’s Word or not knowing the ins and outs of the Bible like those around you. Please know that today is not that day. I want to eliminate the guilt factor of studying your Bible and replace it with a newfound excitement around meeting God each day in His Word.Â
Â
I read a quote about the “why-to” behind studying the Bible recently from Jen Wilkin. It goes like this:Â
“We must make a study of our God: what He loves, what He hates, how He speaks and acts. We cannot imitate a God whose features and habits we have never learned. We must make a study of Him if we want to become like Him. We must seek His face.”
Our goal is to look more like Jesus at the end of this school year, and reading our Bible regularly is a big step in the right direction. So join me today with Pastor Libin Abraham and, if you don’t mind, please share it with a friend!Â
Â
P.S. I’m assigning a little homework for next week’s podcast, which is to read John 1. That’s just one chapter with 51 verses. Read a few verses each day, and next week we will talk very practically about how to study (not just read) the Bible.
