  • 126: The Sovereign Feminine: Womb Healing, Releasing Scarcity and Reclaiming Abundance

Can you be deeply spiritual, devoted to serving others, abundant, supported, and well-paid?

In this episode of The Spiritual Sanctuary: Wisdom for the Divine Feminine, Bertena welcomes Leslie of Music City Healing for an honest and transformative conversation about womb healing, spiritual abundance, devoted service, and the subconscious beliefs that can keep women trapped in poverty, sacrifice, and overgiving.

Leslie shares her personal experience of devotion and taking a vow of poverty during her time as a nun. Together, Leslie and Bertena explore how formal and informal “vows” can continue influencing our relationships with money, visibility, self-worth, service, and receiving—even after our lives and circumstances have changed.

Many healers, intuitives, caregivers, spiritual teachers, and heart-centered women have been taught that being spiritual means giving without limits. We may believe that charging for our gifts is selfish, that suffering proves our devotion, or that caring for ourselves takes something away from the people we serve.

But devotion does not have to mean deprivation—and sacred service should not require self-abandonment.

Leslie explains the “trance of lack” and how subconscious beliefs may cause women to undercharge, remain invisible, reject support, feel guilty about desiring more, or give until they are depleted. She also discusses how transformational hypnosis can help release these limiting beliefs and anchor a more empowering truth:

We can be spiritual, in service, abundant, supported, and well-paid.

Bertena then explores Divine Feminine healing and the womb as a sacred physical, energetic, and symbolic center of creativity, intuition, receiving, transformation, and personal power.

Womb healing is not limited to fertility or motherhood. This practice can be meaningful for women of every age and life experience, including those who are postmenopausal, have experienced hysterectomy or pregnancy loss, or do not have a physical womb. The healing centers on reconnecting with the body, creative center, intuition, and capacity to receive.

In this episode, you will discover:

    • The difference between spiritual simplicity and chronic lack
    • How inherited, religious, cultural, and subconscious beliefs can affect abundance
    • Why healers and caregivers sometimes struggle to charge for their gifts
    • How overgiving can become a form of self-abandonment
    • What it means to serve from fullness instead of depletion
    • How hypnosis can help transform subconscious beliefs
    • The womb’s connection to intuition, creativity, power, and receiving
    • Why boundaries are an essential part of sacred service
    • How to embrace abundance without compromising your spiritual values
    • What it means to embody the Sovereign Feminine

    Questions for Reflection
    • What did you learn about women, spirituality, money, and service?
    • Where are you giving more than you can sustainably offer?
    • Do you feel guilty when you rest, receive help, or charge for your gifts?
    • What belief about poverty or sacrifice are you ready to release?
    • What part of your feminine power are you ready to reclaim?
    • What are you finally willing to receive?

  • 125: Lammas and Lughnasadh: First Harvest Traditions, the God Lugh, Goddess Tailtiu, and Simple Ways to Celebrate

What is Lammas, and how is it connected to the older Celtic festival of Lughnasadh?

In Episode 125 of The Spiritual Sanctuary, Bertena explores the history, meaning, and spiritual symbolism of the first harvest celebration traditionally observed around August 1.

Lammas is often associated with bread, grain, gratitude, and the beginning of the harvest season. Its name comes from the idea of “loaf mass,” when bread made from the first grain harvest was offered in blessing and thanksgiving.

The episode also explores Lughnasadh, the older Gaelic festival connected with Lugh, the many-skilled god associated with leadership, craftsmanship, poetry, music, knowledge, and mastery.

Although Lughnasadh carries the name of Lugh, one of the most meaningful figures connected with the celebration is his foster mother, Tailtiu.

Tailtiu is remembered as a legendary queen who cleared the land for agriculture and died from exhaustion after completing the work. Lugh is said to have established funeral games and a great gathering in her honor.

Today, many spiritual practitioners honor Tailtiu as a goddess or sacred figure connected with the earth, agriculture, harvest, land, sovereignty, sacrifice, and the unseen labor that makes abundance possible.

In this episode, Bertena discusses how the story of Tailtiu can be especially meaningful for women. Her story reminds us to honor the work that often goes unnoticed while also recognizing that women should not have to exhaust or sacrifice themselves completely to prove their worth.

Lammas and Lughnasadh invite us to celebrate what is beginning to grow and ripen in our lives, even when the full harvest has not yet arrived.

In This Episode, You Will Learn
    • What Lammas means and why it is called the first harvest
    • The difference between Lammas and Lughnasadh
    • The history of Lughnasadh as a Gaelic seasonal festival
    • Who the Celtic god Lugh was
    • Why Lugh was known as the many-skilled one
    • The story of Lugh’s foster mother, Tailtiu
    • Why Tailtiu is associated with the land, harvest, sacrifice, and women’s labor
    • How Lughnasadh was celebrated through fairs, games, markets, music, storytelling, pilgrimage, and community gatherings
    • The spiritual meaning of bread and grain
    • Why the first harvest represents progress rather than completion
    • Simple and respectful ways to honor Lammas at home
    • How to recognize your own emotional, spiritual, and personal harvest

Simple Ways to Celebrate Lammas at Home

You do not need an elaborate ceremony or expensive spiritual tools to connect with the season.

    You can honor Lammas by:

    • Blessing and mindfully eating a piece of bread
    • Preparing a meal with seasonal or locally grown food
    • Supporting a local farmer or market
    • Donating food to a community pantry
    • Creating a small altar with grain, fruit, flowers, or a candle
    • Writing about what has grown in your life this year
    • Thanking someone whose work is often overlooked
    • Resting instead of pushing yourself into exhaustion
    • Caring for your garden, neighborhood, or local environment
    • Sharing food, time, encouragement, or wisdom with someone else

The heart of Lammas is gratitude, community, reflection, and recognizing that the first signs of growth are worthy of celebration.

Kody shares how his spiritual path began after college and eventually led him into Reiki, tarot, ancestral work, bone throwing, crystal healing, and folk magic practices. He explains how these spiritual tools can help people receive guidance, strengthen intuition, connect with their ancestors, and feel more supported on their healing journey.

A major focus of this episode is bone throwing divination, an intuitive practice that uses bones, shells, charms, stones, and meaningful objects to receive spiritual messages. Kody shares how he discovered bone throwing at a Pagan Pride Festival and later studied with his mentor, Atalanta Moonfire. Each piece carries symbolism, and the placement, direction, distance, and relationship between the pieces help reveal messages connected to life questions, ancestral wisdom, spiritual growth, and intuitive guidance.

Bertena and Kody also explore Southern folk magic, ancestral healing, and the importance of working with spiritual tools in a respectful and grounded way. They discuss how Reiki, tarot, crystals, oracle cards, bone throwing, and ancestral practices can work together to support emotional healing, clarity, protection, and deeper spiritual connection.

This episode is perfect for anyone interested in ancestral healing, bone throwing, Southern folk magic, tarot readings, Reiki, crystal healing, divination tools, spirit guide communication, goddess-centered spirituality, and the priestess path.

Bertena and Kody also discuss the beauty of creating a personalized bone throwing kit centered around a goddess, ancestor, or spiritual theme. This part of the conversation offers inspiration for anyone who wants to create sacred tools that reflect their own intuitive and spiritual path.

Upcoming plans include an Ancestral Healing Event on September 19 and a Bone Throwing Workshop in October, with more details coming soon.

    • How a spiritual yoga practice can be 5, 10, 20, or 60 minutes
    • Why consistency matters more than perfection
    • How to create a practice that fits your life, body, and spiritual path
    • How yoga can include movement, breath, meditation, mantra, journaling, devotion, and rest
    • A simple daily yoga practice formula
    • A sample 10-minute yoga spiritual practice
    • How to create a practice that feels sacred but realistic
    • How to choose one practice to carry forward after the series

    Simple Daily Yoga Practice Formula

    1. Arrive

Light a candle, sit quietly, place your hand on your heart, or say, “I am here.”

    2. Breathe

Take 3 to 5 slow breaths to arrive in the present moment.

    3. Move

Practice gentle stretches, somatic movement, or a few yoga poses.

    4. Listen

Pause and notice your body, breath, energy, and emotions.

    5. Connect

Say a prayer, mantra, affirmation, or intention.

    6. Rest

End with stillness, meditation, or Yoga Nidra.

    7. Reflect

Journal one sentence about how you feel.

    Sample 10-Minute Practice

    • 1 minute: grounding breath
    • 3 minutes: gentle neck, shoulder, and spine movement
    • 2 minutes: forward fold or supported child’s pose
    • 2 minutes: seated meditation
    • 1 minute: mantra or affirmation
    • 1 minute: gratitude

    Sample Spiritual Intention

May this practice help me return to peace, presence, and sacred connection.

    Spiritual Reflection

Yoga becomes powerful when it becomes personal.

Your practice does not need to look like anyone else’s. It needs to support your body, honor your energy, fit your life, and connect you with your breath, spirit, and inner truth.

    Journal Prompt

What kind of yoga practice can I realistically commit to this week?

    You may also reflect on:

    • How much time can I honestly give to my practice?
    • What time of day feels most supportive?
    • What does my body need most right now?
    • Do I need movement, breath, meditation, mantra, journaling, devotion, or rest?
    • What would make my practice feel sacred but simple?
    • What is one practice I can carry forward after this series?

    Closing Practice

Choose one practice you will carry forward after the series.

Maybe it is breath, movement, meditation, mantra, journaling, devotion, or rest.

    Repeat:

I choose a practice that supports me.

I return to myself with compassion.

My yoga is allowed to be personal, sacred, and real.

  • 118: How Yoga Heals the Mind, Body, and Soul: Breathwork, Somatic Yoga, Rest, and Spiritual Connection | International Week of Yoga Day 7

Welcome to Day 7 of International Week of Yoga: Movement, Meditation, Spirit & the Divine Feminine.

In this episode, we explore how yoga can support healing for the mind, body, and soul in a grounded, spiritual, and accessible way.

Yoga can help calm racing thoughts, support focus and emotional balance, and teach us to witness our thoughts without becoming consumed by them. Through breathwork, meditation, mindful movement, and rest, yoga can help create inner spaciousness and a deeper sense of presence.

For the body, yoga can support flexibility, strength, mobility, balance, and body awareness. Gentle yoga, somatic yoga, restorative practices, and Yoga Nidra can help the body soften, reconnect, and rest. Yoga also encourages us to listen to the body instead of fighting it.

For the soul, yoga can create sacred pause, reconnect us with purpose and intuition, deepen our relationship with the Divine, and help us feel less fragmented and more whole.

This episode also includes a gentle reminder that yoga is not a replacement for medical or mental health care. It can be a supportive spiritual and wellness practice alongside other forms of care when needed.

    In This Episode, You’ll Explore

    • How yoga supports the mind, body, and soul
    • How yoga can calm racing thoughts
    • How breathwork can support focus and emotional balance
    • How meditation teaches us to witness thoughts rather than become consumed by them
    • How yoga creates inner spaciousness
    • How yoga supports flexibility, strength, mobility, balance, and body awareness
    • How gentle and somatic yoga can support nervous system regulation
    • How restorative practices and Yoga Nidra can support deep rest
    • Why yoga encourages listening to the body instead of fighting it
    • How yoga reconnects us with purpose, intuition, and inner wisdom
    • How yoga creates sacred pause
    • How yoga can deepen our relationship with the Divine
    • Why yoga can help us feel less fragmented and more whole

    Important Gentle Note

Yoga is not a replacement for medical care, mental health care, therapy, medication, physical therapy, or professional treatment when those things are needed.

Yoga can be a supportive spiritual and wellness practice. It can work beautifully alongside other forms of care and may help support breath awareness, nervous system regulation, emotional balance, body awareness, rest, and spiritual connection.

    Mind, Body, and Soul Healing

    Mind

Yoga can help calm racing thoughts, support focus, create emotional balance, and teach us to witness thoughts without becoming consumed by them.

    Body

Yoga can support flexibility, strength, mobility, balance, body awareness, nervous system regulation, deep rest, and a more compassionate relationship with the body.

    Soul

Yoga can reconnect us with purpose, intuition, inner wisdom, sacred pause, the Divine, and a deeper sense of wholeness.

    Spiritual Reflection

Yoga does not ask us to escape the body. It teaches us to come home to it.

The body is not separate from healing. The body is part of healing. The breath, awareness, compassion, movement, and rest all become part of the path home.

    Journal Prompt

Where do I need healing right now: my mind, my body, my heart, my energy, or my spirit?

    You may also reflect on:

    • What would healing look like if I approached myself gently?
    • What is my body asking me to hear?
    • What thoughts have been consuming my mind?
    • Where do I need more inner spaciousness?
    • What part of me feels fragmented or disconnected?
    • What practice would help me feel more whole today?

    Closing Practice

    A simple body scan:

Bring awareness to the forehead, jaw, shoulders, heart, belly, hips, legs, and feet.

Soften each area as much as feels available.

    Then repeat:

I come home to my body.

    I listen with compassion.

I welcome healing one breath at a time.
