    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I’m grateful for every single day because the headline I always give on my story is that I’m glad to be here today. I had a point in my life where I wasn’t going to be here, not because of things I did, but because my husband had complete control over me. They went to the extent of having control over my life and my death, which sounds kind of dramatic and harsh, but it’s what it was. I’m a survivor of what is classified as extreme domestic violence, not just talking badly to me and slapping me around, he took it to extreme levels where he controlled every waking minute of my life to the point he said he wanted to control every breath I took. There were two options: Let it define me for the rest of my life and live in fear, or take some of that back for yourself.
    • I was diagnosed with depression and put on all sorts of medication, some which made me hallucinate because I wouldn’t sleep for days. While my divorce was going through I found a depression forum online and someone on there said “ I think you’ve been misdiagnosed, come out to Arizona, I’ll get into a doctor’s and we’ll see what’s going on”. So I flew to Arizona, met him and his family, went to a doctor and found out I’d been misdiagnosed with bipolar in England but what I had was situational depression. I got weaned off the 14 medications I was on. I felt like I owed this guy my life, I went from being a zombie to being able to function, he saved my life. I flew back to England and he started love bombing me, if you don’t know what that is it’s where someone does everything they can to express love to you so you get a serotonin high. He said he wished he'd proposed to me and never sent me back home so he got a lawyer to draw up some new visas for me and two days after my divorce came through I was back on a plane to Arizona and we got married.
    • The first few months with this Southern gentleman were fantastic, it was like he was from a Hallmark movie, Hollywood, the ultimate romance story. A year into the marriage,  I was working in retail sales and a customer kept me behind for about 15 minutes. By the time I got home I was probably 20-25 minutes later than normal. I walked in the door and he slapped me across the face because I was late. I was in shock. What just happened? Who is this person? He then started love bombing again, apologising that he never meant to, he was just so worried, thought I was in a car accident and I’d died. He then started talking about how his father abused his mother and that’s all he knew growing up and he never wanted to be that way and needed me to help fix him. That’s a trap we fall into, they tell us so much that we fall into it again and believe it’s just the one time and I can fix him, we can work together and make it better.
    • It took me longer than it should have done for me to leave, by three months the physical abuse had become a daily occurrence. It progressed from hitting to choking until I passed out. He’d say things like “you were supposed to have behaved”, cementing that everything I was doing was making him react in these ways. He began isolating me from my family and friends. I was with him for 5 years going through nearly 4 years of abuse where I had knives pulled on me, my head held underwater, I had a traumatic brain injury from where he beat my head on a concrete floor until I lost consciousness and he got mad that I woke up because he thought he’d killed me. He had me believing that I was such a terrible human being that I deserved his ‘correction’. I started to hope he would kill me, as it was my only way out. A friend from work saw him hit me when I was getting out of the car one day and they contacted someone they knew to contact the police and helped me escape.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘I knew my first husband for years, from high school, and it turned out we were better friends. Plus, we discovered religion in our marriage and they put a lot of emphasis on marriage and expectations and how you were supposed to behave and it drove a wedge and we divorced amicably.’
‘The question everyone asks about domestic violence that really makes me mad is “why didn’t you leave?” It’s not apparent from the very first date, I never saw it coming.’
‘What I can ‘positive control’ is manipulation through positive actions. For example, I put something on to go to dinner and he’d say how stunning I looked but the next week I’d put something else on and he’d say I look nice but you looked beautiful in that dress from last week, why don’t you put that on? Before I knew it he was picking out all my clothes, what I wore to each location and never using negative language.’
‘I was told that I was a cherry blossom – when the blossom and the leaves fall from the cherry tree even its bark turns grey. This is because they’re digging the roots deeper so they can grow stronger for the next season.’

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Moving from Kazakhstan when I was 10 made me realise that home is where you are, not necessarily where you’re born, that’s just pot luck. I was young enough to still be mouldable and to adapt quickly to new cultures, language and environment but old enough for trying to be more aware of making friends.
    • Most of the people that have had an effect on my journey and myself, the one thing in common they’ve had is that they’re stern, fair and kind. It’s all about love and love comes in many different ways. I was told by a teacher in Kazakhstan that if you like and are passionate about something it’s easier to pursue it. When I came to England there was one teacher who tried to push me more towards sports to help me find my feet, some people need encouragement to unlock their potential.
    • The beauty of the technological society that we live in now is that knowledge is so easily accessible. You release a podcast and it’s available for anyone to listen to at any time. You can find out through people’s books what traits powerful people have in common, what makes you happy and focus on that rather than what society says success is. This new information provokes you to think, they don’t make you think a certain way, they ask you ‘why’. That has a bigger affect on human minds than most religious dogma.
    • We all have, or have had our vices, but it’s all about understanding where they come from. Habits are very potent mechanisms to make you do something without thinking but, when there’s a chemical component that magnifies that habit, it makes it even stickier than you thought it would be. I didn’t start smoking weed until I was 30 and now I’m not dependent on it to go to sleep or think, I don’t wake and bake. I use it to access a portion that I don’t normally because of overthinking or being too busy, it allows me to sit down and think, the ceremony around it – the same as pouring a scotch – allows me to just be, and that’s a hugely positive thing, just being.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘My Mum taught me English from a very young age, I said my first word in English when I was about three.’
‘Travel and moving continents, let alone cities, makes you more open and accepting of different people’s mindsets and cultures.’
‘You absorb so much from your friends without knowing. Show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are.’
‘If you’re surrounded by people who read, who teach, who learn, who practice mindfulness, the last thing you’re going to do is freak out at someone disrespecting your trainers or whatever.’

  • FOPO

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about FOPO – the fear of fear of other people’s opinion – and how many of us are aware of other people’s opinions of us, and what does that mean for the decisions we make?

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Some people might wonder what their boss thinks of them, they like to believe their boss thinks highly of them but that might not be the case. That doubt can lead you to make certain decisions or take certain actions in order for them to see you in the light you would like them to see you. All of a sudden, when you’re trying to be seen in the light by somebody else, in the way they would like to see you, you aren’t showing up as your most authentic self. If you’re not being your most authentic self, who are you really being?
    • I see so many people doing what other people want them to do because of the fear they have of those other people's views, thoughts, and perspectives of them. What’s going on in the world? We may as well be other people’s robots – or hubots. We are controlled by other people, we are the prisoner of those people, we are giving them power. We must take the power back, liberate ourselves and continue to enquire.
    • The world has made us think in such a strange way for many years and it’s time we all changed that, it’s time that we all raise our awareness, it’s time that we generate a new, really high level consciousness amongst all of us. Everything will become different, perspectives, happier, healthier, more enjoyment, more fulfilling, greater content, all these are things that all human beings should want and have the desire to enable, empower, create, design and have in their life. It’s completely achievable, but you have to rewire and re-wire and rewire your mind.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘What is your nature? What are your beliefs? What are your values? What are your goals? Your dreams? Your ambitions? Who really are you? Are your goals and desires made up from somebody else’s desire for you? If they are, have you been kidding yourself all this time? What really are your dreams and ambitions?’
‘If you post something on social media and it doesn’t get the number of likes you wanted, do you start worrying that you should have posted it, should you have posted something else? What a mess we get ourselves in.’
‘All you really have to do to liberate yourself is to be yourself.’

  • Past Life Interactions With David Bettenhausen And Carla Bogni-Kidd

In the second part of this two-part episode Gavin is joined by David Bettenhausen and Carla Bogni-Kidd whose experience and unusual, somewhat mystical skill all started from meditation.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Meditation increases serotonin and dopamine, which are the same medications we give people with depression, it lowers cortisol. When I started to meditate I started to lose weight, in fact I lost over 100lbs over a year. We found it lowers blood sugar, lowers hypertension, makes you relaxed and calm, you sleep better because it increases melatonin. We found that during the period of meditation you actually have a hyper-sense of memory because it increases alpha and theta waves in the brain.
    • We were both raised Catholic and I had a questioning mind. Just going to church and being told to believe and have faith just wasn’t enough for me. Through meditation Dave started communicating with my Mother, we didn’t know that could happen and I wondered why she didn’t come to me?! She had died 18 years before and he had never met her, but picked out the dancing shoe she had shown him and got very emotional when he saw a picture of her. This took our interest and we started wanting to do nothing but meditate and wondered who else we could talk to.
    • Another time I was meditating and I looked across the room and suddenly I’m in  a dark alley looking at Carla. It wasn’t quite Carla, but I know it was her, she was younger, had  blonde hair, wore a gold band and a fringed skirt. Then there were two large flashes and I realised I’d been shot, it threw me to the ground and I was dying in this alley. I didn’t know what any of it meant. The next day I meditated again and got more of the story: I met this woman at the wedding of a man named Angelo on January 10th 1925 in Chicago. I asked her to go to breakfast the next day, she told me her name is Ruby Donaldson, her father’s name is James, mother’s name Anna, and she’s from Bulloch Georgia and she moved to Chicago to become a dressmaker and a singer. I still didn’t understand what this meant. Carla went on ancestry dot com and looked up Ruby Donaldson from Bulloch Georgia, the daughter of James and Anna and one of 11 children. Then I found newspaper articles from the wedding of Angelo Jenner, her boss, to Lucille Spinolla on January 10th 1925. There were pictures of the wedding cake, it served over 3000 mobsters as Angelo preceded Al Capone in the mob in Chicago at the time.
    • The other thing that can help you here, which has a basis in neuroscience, as far as consciousness and subconsciousness. We start to look at the way we learn lessons – if you touch something hot it burns you, the next time you touch something hot you pull back faster – if you had a bad experience in a past life (say, being shot in a dark alley) you’re going to try and avoid being shot by mobsters in a back alley in future. There are certainly lessons from the past that can protect you, even if you can’t exactly remember them, you pull them up from the subconscious. That’s where altered states of consciousness – meditation, hypnosis, the time between wake and sleep – are times where people have these experiences, because they have heightened alpha and theta waves in the brain, increased endorphin release and those things will cause a reaction and a memory.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Dave’s spirit guide, Isbella, was feeding Dave information. She said: “Most people know what the 10 Commandments are, but I can give you a shortened version that’s easier for everybody to remember – in order to get off the wheel of karma we should live a life without conceit, selfishness, jealousy, and unforgiveness. We should do everything in love and compassion because, unless you learn that, how else can you truly love anybody and find your way back to God? With reincarnation you return to learn those lessons because you didn’t reach your potential in life, so you came back again”.’
‘We’ve found 29 past lives together. Not just in a romantic way, I’ve been his sister, his mother, we’ve been neighbours, school chums. In each one of these stories there was a lesson to be learned, there was a reason we didn’t reach our potential and we had to come back to another life. We’ve been doing this for over 6000 years. We’re still learners apparently!’
‘If we’d all learn lessons from history, whether it’s your past lives’ journey or even from history alone, you can start to improve the future.’
‘If you believe in reincarnation, like we do, there’s really no need to feel jealous, selfish or unforgiving, there’s enough to go around. We’ve all been kings, queens, rich, poor, black, white, saints and sinners, we are infinite human beings.’
    ABOUT THE GUEST
David Bettenhausen and Carla Bogni-Kidd are like-minded souls. They have been close friends since 1998. The two have a spiritual kinship that has taken them through 29 past lives together.
The story they tell in The Gift of Past Lives with Mother, Isabella, God and Elizabeth aims to liberate people from the traps of conceit, jealousy and selfishness and choose love in all actions.
    David Bettenhausen
Dr. Dave serves as the vice president of medical affairs at a small Midwestern hospital. Whether he is at the hospital or his private practice, he daily coaches his patients about their well-being mentally, physically and spiritually. He believes in a holistic approach to life and regularly lectures and conducts discussions with groups of patients and physicians on healthcare. He has a personal interest in the stages of grief with death, dying and spirituality. Before he entered medical school, Dave practised as a registered nurse for ten years.
After years in private practice as a physician in Ohio, Dr. Dave was approaching personal burnout. He had always valued being a positive example to his patients, and as his life became less joyful, he felt he was no longer doing that. He had weight issues, and his life was spiralling downward. Carla, as his office manager and friend, was the vessel that carried Dave to meditation and the ultimate healing of himself. Meditation led both of them to an encounter with a set of wise spiritual beings known as Mother, Isabella, God and Elizabeth, which revealed many past lives to Dave and Carla. Through the insights Dave received during meditation, he underwent a personal transformation and regained his sense of self, which led to a weight loss of 116 pounds. He again found his joy in practising medicine and with his patients.
    Carla Bogni-Kidd
Carla Bogni-Kidd has been on a lifelong journey of spirituality, always seeking her purpose and very often serving as a vessel for others’ journeys. The theme running through her life has been to help others—that is where she feels the happiest.
Carla is quite comfortable speaking with people about their innermost feelings and challenges. Her closest friends have often referred to her as their personal counselor.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I thought I’d do a series called ‘Personal Stories’, so people could get to know me better outside the work I do. Just talking about things that have happened to me in my lifetime. I made a video and sent it to a friend of mine who was there when that particular story took place, I thought he’d find it funny. He texted me back and said the file was only a minute long. A rage built up inside me and I asked “why does this always happen to me?”
    • The more I get frustrated and the angrier I get, the more belief I build that I’m not good with tech/computers/phones, I’m building that negative energy time and time again. SO, I stopped and thought about attracting better energy. I said: “I’m so grateful, technology, for you advising me that I had not gone about the algorithm, the input in the correct way. I’m so grateful for you highlighting this for me. I’m going to go back and find out what my mistake was, I’m going to learn from my mistake and then I’m going to repost it with the full version.”

    BEST MOMENTS
‘I’m technology compatible, not technology compliant.’
‘If I had this belief that I’m not tech compatible for years, and every time a little tech hiccup occurs, how big must that negative energy be? That’s what attracts me. Now I’ve got this new awareness I can start to take little chips off that mountain until it’s a level playing field. Then I’m going to raise the bar and I’ll be on top of that mountain looking down at tech.’
‘I’m smiling because I know there’s a change in the direction of the wind.’

  • Everyday Excellence With Joe Templin

In the second part of this two-part episode Gavin is joined by Joe Templin, who describes himself as a business and life Swiss army knife who has eclectic knowledge and skill sets to help solve problems, help people, coach and innovate.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Narcissism causes people to create their own reality that is completely independent from all the facts that are presented and they think they can do whatever they want no matter what. You’ve either got ‘Prince Charming’ who has a very dark side, or you’ve got an entitlement mentality where individuals think that because Daddy’s the King or Mummy’s the Queen or a big hot shot attorney or doctor, that they do not have to grow up and there are no consequences for their actions. A lot of this is down to the parents.
    • We live in a world where we can look up the answer to any question, we can have food delivered to our doorstep in 15 minutes through our phone. Everything is about convenience and convenience is the opposite of excellence. In any situation or decision we make, we have two paths that we can go on; the easy path that feels good in the moment, which leads to a declining set of outcomes, and the harder path which is the right choice to take because they lead to better outcomes. Every day there are 4-5 decisions that determine the outcome for that day as a whole, and when you add up good days after good days you get good weeks, months, years and you ultimately can build a great career and a spectacular life by making those little difficult decisions.
    • I’ve been successful in my career, I have the opportunity to give my kids things they did not have – partially because of technologies that didn’t exist, partially time and attention, going places and doing things. It’s in our nature to want to share that, to give it to our kids, to have our children have a better life than we had and to avoid some of the hard work and pain that we had to go through. But, it’s that hard work that made us who we are. We missed meals and we struggled, when I first built my businesses I didn’t know where my next pay cheque was coming from and there was risk and sleepless nights. We want to avoid this for our kids because we love them, but there’s this balance between loving them and making them independent, well-functioning members of society and the pendulum swings back and forth. Unfortunately for society it has swung so far to the ‘make things easy for them, coddle them, bubble-wrap them’ that it has produced a generation of kids who can’t figure stuff out and have never had difficulty.
    • We need to make things more difficult. If you touched the stove when you were little and it was hot you learned never to touch the stove again. If you did something stupid you either got your butt paddled, you got in trouble or you got a small scar for it and you learned your lesson, you failed a test, that was on you. Kids need to stand on their own much earlier and make little mistakes before they grow into big mistakes.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Problems are generally derived from people.’
‘Too many parents make life hard for their children by trying too zealously to make it easy for them.’
‘Convenience kills, it is the opposite of excellence in the long range.’
‘People are never bored because of the constant stream of distraction and entertainment, so they don’t learn to figure stuff out on their own.’
    ABOUT THE GUEST
Joe Templin has led an eclectic life.
As one of six kids (the only normal one, he insists) growing up in a small town and spending time on the family farm, Joe’s parents (John and Barb) instilled a love of learning, the outdoors, and a healthy disrespect for authority while still simultaneously embracing traditional values of hard work and “love thy neighbour but mind your own dang business.”  This is Joe’s foundation.
He was severely asthmatic but through his work ethic and love of challenge has become a martial artist and ultra distance runner.  He had a speech impediment but has built a career around communicating.  This habit of overcoming limitations is a theme in his life and his writings.
Joe has three hooligans (Danny, Liam, and Colin) and is a very proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, having served multiple times as President of his local Foundation and Chapter Advisor.  He has also served on the local, State, and National levels for NAIFA, is a Cubmaster (worst one ever if you ask his boys), and is involved with his local Autism Society.  Serving others is important to Joe, because of how his parents raised him.
Can’t get enough of Joe?  Visit The Intro Machine to read more than you can handle on how to set up a successful introduction-based business and put your excellence practice to work in your professional life.

Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
    Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
    How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.

  • We Are So Conditioned

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about what it means to be conditioned, whether that’s you looking after your physical fitness or if it’s about your surroundings and the way we’ve been brought up.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • From the very minute we’re born we are conditioned. It’s not our parents’ fault, they just want to love us, but in doing so the human element of nature, of survival has been lost. When we get to school, we get gold stars for doing well in class, a reward for being good, for paying attention, for focussing, for not creating havoc. We’re offered things to reward good behaviour – more conditioning.
    • I set out with the goal of swimming 15km today and I only managed 9.72. There were currents that really held me back and darkness crept in and I had no lights with me so I called it a day. My brain was telling me at the 7th km “you’re in pain, stop what you’re doing, don’t worry, Mummy will look after you, you’ll be OK.” More conditioning. Is pain such a bad thing? In endurance sport certainly not.
    • Things are being made easier for us all the time, like supermarket self-checkouts, we’re being conditioned to live an easy life. That’s because they’re intending for you to live a life they want  you to live because you are so conditioned. What is the life you want to live? Do you know, or are you living out somebody else’s ideologies? I’d say 70/30, most of you are living out somebody else’s ideologies. I’d love to be wrong.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Daz tells you to put in two scoops of washing powder instead of one. Why? Is it because they want you to run quicker, so you have to buy some more Daz washing powder, or have they actually done a survey and they’ve seen that two scoops is definitely more effective? Which one do you think it could be? They are conditioning you through their marketing.’
‘If you’re curvy, that’s the same as saying ugly or obese. If you’re disease-ridden there must be something wrong with you. More conditioning.’
‘It’s all about conscious choices. Are you making your choices with consciousness, are you making them consciously?’

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • The warning pictures printed on cigarette packets aren’t pretty but they aren’t effective. After buying 2-3 packs you just get used to seeing it. I think that ‘anti-advertising’ maybe has an effect on small children, but not for people who already smoke. People aren’t stupid, everybody knows that when you put something toxic in your body it will create damage to you.
    • We don’t get out of beg planning to break your leg, we all get out of bed with the intention of doing something good. Even a bank robber has good intentions for himself – consequences are something else entirely. People who smoke do so for reasons which are different for everyone, some habitually smoke – to speed up time when I’m bored, to make food taste better, relieving stress from work, and whatever they say is true for them. When I work with clients I respect that. Everyone has a different gauge of what their health means to them and how important it is to them. What they need is a different input for after they stop smoking.
    • I use tools from CBT to help ease cravings. On of the most powerful ones in the ‘pai scale’. We tend to catastrophise to show bad things that we don’t like to make out that they’re worse than they really are. In reality, they’re just things and events, our perception gives them value. My technique is to not give much value to that handful of dead grass that is a cigarette or the craving for it. Cravings are good, like the craving for food when we are hungry, when you feel a craving just say: “thank you, craving, I understand that there is a need that needs to be fulfilled and I will do this and that to achieve satisfaction”. We give a number to the craving from 1-10, 10 being unbearable, it’s unlikely to ever be a 10 – even if they say it’s a 10 – because 10 would mean death. If you’re still breathing there’s hope to reduce it from a 9 to a 1.
    • NLP tools have really been a game changer in my life, that’s how I learned to design the life I wanted to live, how to do it and how to make it important for me to create goals that are mine, not somebody else’s, and how to create a mindset from the resources that I already had inside of me, in my subconscious mind, and to use them to achieve what I wanted to achieve. My grand goal was to help people through coaching. This is what I want to do with my life.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘The simplest way to stop smoking is to stop putting cigarettes in your mouth, the problem is what to do after this because the brain instantaneously looks for something else.’
‘I get my clients to imagine doing and achieving amazing things but without holding a cigarette, rather than a no smoking sign, because our brains like to feel better.’
‘Addiction itself is programmed. You’re not addicted to nicotine, you’re addicted to dopamine. The brain is lazy and is always searching for shortcuts. It has figured out that with one shot of nicotine it can easily get a large supply of dopamine, but it doesn’t know that the habit is killing us. If we re-train the brain to think it’s going to get a hit of dopamine once a week, it’ll be happy with that, this is why some people can smoke only at the weekends in the company of other people.’
‘Life is happening and it doesn’t care what you want.’
    ABOUT THE GUEST
My name is Rad Suvajatz, just like you I achieved everything people told me that is good to achieve: finished all the schools, got a steady and safe job, regular pay, but something was bugging me all that path. It felt wrong. like something was missing. In the beginning, I thought, it’s not a big deal, until one day it became i big deal.
Ever since then I started to learn to widen my views, took all the courses I could find in my home town until I finally found answers for my doubts and worries. And on my big surprise, the answers have been inside of me.
Suddenly I was proud of me for all of my accomplishments till that day, and I was ready to go after my mission in this life, and that mission is to help people with my knowledge to overcome their insecurities, using the things I learned and NLP Practitioner technics.
I have specialised in NLP technics that help clients work on achieving their goals, anchoring resources they need to achieve their goals, and removing the mental blockades that prevent clients from moving forward in their lives (fears, unpleasant experiences in past etc.) and implementation of desired behavior.

  • Time To Quit

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about the troubles he’s had lately including ear trouble, sinus trouble, migraines and a ripped psoas in the lead up to his cross channel swim and what his mindset is about completing his cross-channel swim.

You can donate to Gavin’s JustGiving page for The Ocean Cleanup by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3DRZefO

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • When I slipped last week and ripped my psoas my friend asked me if I felt OK. I couldn’t feel any pain, all that was going through my heart was: “Am I going to be able to swim?” I fell forward with all my weight onto a stone floor and I felt the pop. I’m only thankful to god, the universe, to my magnificent human form that it isn’t serious.
    • Today is the first day I’ve swum in a week. There were signs that if I pushed it it would begin to niggle. But, I now know that with some physio in the next week, with some reintegration exercises, some soft tissue muscle work I’m going to be OK and back on track.
    • Everyone’s saying you don’t have to do it, you can wait ‘til next year. What their mind says is at the first opportunity where discomfort arises, run, it’s time to quit. What happens in my mind is when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘The swim is about impact, and the way I see it is if I don’t do the swim there will be no impact.’

‘It’s a recurring pattern: I get into the flow of doing things, I’m doing 1-3 hours, and just as I’m seeking to push my endurance something happens.’

‘I’m not going to quit now, I’m not going to quit on that day, I am going to successfully complete my challenge and return healthily.’
