  • Leading With Heart

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about what it means to lead with heart: You don’t have to be a leader of a community to lead, being a leader is all about how you lead your own life.
You can donate to Gavin’s JustGiving page for The Ocean Cleanup by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3DRZefO
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to The Ocean Cleanup, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • So many of us are so accustomed, attached, instinctively leading without mind. When we lead with our mind we lead with conditioning and subconscious programming. That’s where we get stuck. So much energy is reduced when we don’t lead from our heart’s space.
    • When you look at who you were as a child, a teenager, and now as an adult and see who you wanted to be, that’s a question for the heart. I guarantee that you would come from a different space and energy and to a different outcome. Why? Because the energy is different.
    • Some of the best decisions that we make are from the most uncomfortable of places. When you lead with heart you drop expectation and attachment to the outcome and those are great things to let go of because they welcome flow. Let it go and just flow.
    • We’re so determined to control things: our lives, events, direction but we actually can’t control anything. The moment we let go of that idea and the moment we let things flow and lead with heart, I promise you, you will see big, big changes.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘When it comes to decision making, if we make decisions from the heart they can’t be wrong.’
‘If you want different outcomes you have to make different decisions.’
‘Whatever it is you’re feeling today that you feel you could do better at or want to change, look at the two decisions: From the logical mind and from the heart space. Sometimes they might tie up, but more often than not they don’t. Explore that heart space.’
‘It’s so easy to get carried away in the rush… but from all the things I’ve done and studied, making a decision from the heart might not always get you where you want to get immediately – there are no shortcuts in life – but it’s going to take you in the direction that you seek and at the speed that you desire.’

    ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.

  • The Doctor of Self-Worth With Endre Hoffmann

In this episode of the podcast Gavin is joined by Endre Hoffmann to talk about his work as The Doctor of Self-Worth and how it’s our struggles that make us who we are today.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to The Ocean Cleanup, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • It’s a journey of pain and struggle that has created this brand. I had a hard childhood because of a dysfunctional relationship with my dad, I never felt loved or acknowledged. I thought there was something wrong with me because I couldn’t live up to his standards. Hungary has a really harsh school system where they want you to achieve 100%, which confirmed that I wasn’t good enough. But I went to play basketball and my team became national champions when I was 12. I took up marathons, but nothing impressed my dad. Eventually I moved to Ireland and got into banking, but saw the burnout on the people working there, so I travelled the world trying to find answers about me and speaking with spiritual gurus.
    • 5 years ago, my life crumbled after losing my wife and family. That brought me to my knees, but I found a mindset specialist who was able to unlock my potential. Ever since I’ve been helping others (business leaders) to thrive and get what they want in life. I now have a voice.
    • What are you avoiding the most? That’s a breakthrough right there. The mind has a tendency to avoid things it can’t deal with and that leads to addictions: working hard, substances, TV just to resolve it in some way. Left to its own devices the mind is only the effect of the programming. It’s a computer that is mostly not run efficiently or with updates.
    • If you commit, and that’s the only thing you have to do, to make a commitment to take the journey and actually seek help, because you won’t be able to do this alone. You’ll wish you could with seminars and books, but unless it’s zeroed in on your specific limitations you might end up spending $150,000 like I did going to seminars, telling yourself you’re working on it, walking on fire, snapping arrows with your neck, but the underlying pattern is not going to shift. Your mind is wired to avoid it, when it gets uncomfortable and negative emotions are coming up, the mind is wired to go to a safe space to resolve it. Your mind is against you and will trick you in hundreds of ways to create a story that you are working on and really elevating your life. It all comes down to commitment.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘I was always looking for every possible reason for why I wasn’t having happiness or satisfaction.’
‘10/10 commitment is a must for making change happen fast.’
‘Standing out from the crowd really makes a difference… it’s all about the energy the person has and unlocking that life force.’
‘It does not need to take 34 years that it took me, there are shortcuts. Probably it’s a 6-12 month journey.’

  • There’s Flowers Everywhere

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about the inspiration for this week’s episode title which came from a conversation with one of his friends from Slovenia and is along a similar theme to the Life’s Not Always Easy episode from a few weeks back.

    • A lot of us are stuck in a mindset that when something appears it’s happening to you not for you, or “why is it happening to me? It shouldn’t be happening to me. Why am I the only one feeling like this?” You’re not the only one feeling like this.
    • So many people have resistance and blocks that they can’t see beyond. It’s not seeing beyond that will take you beyond, you need to take action and create a strategy or plan, create progress in the right direction to see flowers everywhere. You need to seek help, find a teacher, find a way in which – when you do get those flowers – you will be able to nurture them and look after them.
    • One of the greatest hurdles that we go through is having the awareness to change our perception and belief systems. Do you want change? Do you want different things? Do you want a better life? If so, we have to create change.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘When you look for flowers you find flowers, when you look for solace you find solace. Life isn’t always what you seek. Life gifts you what you need at the time.’
‘We really can determine how our life will be.’
‘Consciousness is all about you, your mindset, and ability to change the programming and conditioning that we have subscribed to.’

  • The Language Of The Soul With Melissa Amos

In this episode of the podcast Gavin is joined by Melissa Amos, a soul mentor, to talk about what that is and what she does.

    • A soul mentor is somebody who helps people understand the language of their soul and how to live a life led by that part of us that really wants us to evolve and has our best interests at heart.
    • As humans we have so much noise going on, here’s always something distracting us, calling for our attention, there’s constantly an inner narrative going on round and round telling us how to behave, how to show up, what we should and shouldn’t be doing, what we could be doing, what our parents and society told us. That’s often a louder voice for most of us and a driving factor. Yet, we all have this other part of us (a voice or feeling) that sits behind it and is there to encourage, motivate, and push us outside of our comfort zone that we often find ourselves in.
    • I started my working life selling cars in a high-end showroom which had its own experiences and opportunities, and I had fun and learned a lot. It certainly ticked some of the boxes of what I “should” be doing in my life. For me, the job wasn’t all about getting the sale, it was the human-to-human contact. I was asked in training once: “If you weren’t in this job what would you be doing?” I said: “I help make people’s dreams come true.” What I do now is make people’s dreams come true, but in a very different way – helping them understand who they are.
    • My grandma was a hypnotherapist, so that gave me a different understanding and curiosity about life. But, I was very grounded and wanted to know in a business sense, I prided myself on my intellect and wit, because I was told that was important, so I went down the route of coaching. It wasn’t until I learned reiki that things really started to change. I could feel an energy coming through my hands and it made me wonder that if I was so cynical towards lots of the esoteric things presented to me, what else have I missed out on. This started a deep dive into all things energetic: The law of attraction, karma, past-life work, energy, entanglement, shamanism, tarot cards, psychic reading, mediumship, angelology, I trained in all of it. A couple of years ago I consolidated it all and did a diploma in spiritual counselling.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘How your soul speaks to you is always going to be a language you understand because this is your soul, it’s not something outside of you. Although sometimes it can feel like that because we’ve not listened to it for so long.’
"We are energetic beings here in physical form, science has definitely proved that now, we’re more space than we are physical. There are different ways to spend, exchange and receive energy and our intention is always the main driver of energy.’
‘If you can learn what is supportive for you, and what is and what is draining your energy, then you can start to make better decisions and you can start to create better intentions around things.’
‘When we see things from other people’s viewpoints we’re stepping into their energy and giving them a bit of ours which gives them a boost.’

    ABOUT THE GUEST
Melissa Amos: I started off just like you. Unsure, going about my day-to-day life in the standard eat, work, sleep cycle, until a series of mystical and magical coincidences started knocking at my door.
Fast forward a few years – a few energy upgrades, a few life-changing workshops, a few eye opening moments, and a whole tonne of inner work, when I find myself here, with a heap of tools and a beautiful ability to connect with your Soul, your guidance team and tap into your timelines!

  • Sleep. Just How Important Is It?

In this episode of the podcast Gavin talks about his recent long nights up with friends who came to visit and how lack of sleep can affect your body and your relationships.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • After a weekend of late nights, staying up beyond my years, I went to salsa class with a lady. We danced together, not brilliantly, and at the end of the class I told her my brain was gibberish and my body was jelly. She wasn’t too accepting of it. I went home in the heat, which takes it out of you. When I got home I had trouble sleeping and didn’t get to sleep until 2 or 3am.
    • The next morning I had to give a massage to a client/patient but I don’t think I did a very good job. I could have done better with more sleep. Then, my ego started playing with me and act up because my mind was tired. It was saying: “Why did you leave last night? You should have stayed on dancing with that girl. You should have danced with other girls and created opportunities. Why did you go in the first place, you know that you were so tired you were always going to make a fool of yourself.” This is not a good thing to be listening to
    • When I go out into the world for a period of 4 or 5 days, would I like to be seen and known as ‘fun Gav’, a little bit inebriated? Of course I would. Who wouldn’t? But then the days that follow, the lack of neural efficiency, compatibility, the physiology, how your body feels. Did I want to get out of bed this morning? Hell no! Are you actions the right ones for the outcome you want?

    BEST MOMENTS

‘When you do not sleep well your emotional vibration changes, your confidence pattern changes, your decision making ability changes, the way your body is able to process nutrients, vitamins and hydration is different.’
‘Make no mistake about it. Sleep is one of the most important actions in our lives that we can take: Regenerative, rejuvenative, restorative.’
‘It’s the quality of sleep that matters.’

  • Effective Visibility With Julz Vitality (PR Julz)

In this episode of the podcast Gavin is joined by Julz Vitality, host of the Positive Impact TV, a visibility  strategist and social media coach to talk about her journey and how to widen your audience by becoming more visible.

    • A lot of people, whether they’re entrepreneurs or they’re behind a cause, or running a nonprofit, whatever they have a passion for, they sometimes shy away from being visible because of the level of confidence they have about their message, how much impact they can make with that message, or a combination of the two. Sometimes they’re just lacking the strategy and don’t know how to get out in front of more people. Other people are visible but they aren’t converting their views, followers, listeners into buying customers. I often bring people back to their foundations of why they’re in their business, what is the main impact they want to make, and what kind of person they want to help. Understanding why and the basics is often something that we lose when we become multi-passionate.
    • A lot of people chase numbers thinking that if they do that they’re more likely to get results. Have in mind that you want to stand out, have something that’s valuable to your target audience, give them a taste (lead magnets, freebees, free events) so they know what it’s like to work with you.
    • People relate based on who you are. Showing them a little bit of your authentic self in addition to being known for one main thing about your business, that combination creates a memorable impression in people’s mind, so when the time comes for them to look for someone to help them with this or that they are going to remember you because you’ve established that connection on a level different than just being in the directory of their service provider. There’s something more real to it.
    • I started with a video podcast/YouTube show which inspired the rest of my business. The reason I started that channel was because that’s how I was healing from traumas that I went through. I was literally turning to YouTube for every answer. The information I found, the people I connected with and followed, and then joining the groups behind these thought leaders really helped me get from a place of being stuck to inspiration and potential. Initially I was attracting guests on my show that were helping me heal, every interview was a little coaching session for me. As I was healing, I was attracting guests that were more about mindset, business, and positivity.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘Even if there’s no demand for your service, or people don’t resonate with your brand, at the moment, as long as they remember you  one primary thing they will likely try to find you when that need arises.’
‘We have shiny object syndrome as entrepreneurs; we learn a new skill, we want to add it to our portfolio. It’s irrelevant: Pick something you want to be remembered for’
‘You’re the only you, so authenticity comes with that.’
‘As we transition out of the pandemic into more online business models we’re really underestimating the power of our about sections on our social media profiles that really replaced our business cards.’

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • I believe my life is a continuous series of lessons and realisations as I go through it. I consider myself an everyday life philosopher because I do truly believe that everything that happens to you, if you add a little bit of introspection, is a vehicle for transformation.
    • Academic education is about facts and knowledge, when it comes to personal growth and transformation your knowledge doesn’t change anything. You can know all you like but unless you change the way you see and perceive the world, your framework, all your knowledge won’t change anything, it’s knowledge plus experience that gives you the transformation. This is why I think every single day of my life has potential for growth.
    • Being awesome is not just being awesome or loving yourself despite your flaws, I don’t even use the word awesome very much in the book. It’s about self-love and self-acceptance, but I venture to go deeper and to go beyond the idea that I’m flawed but I’m still good at encouraging people to see that it is exactly the things that they’re ashamed of or they shrink from that hold the most unique value for the world. It’s about finding strength in the things which you might think are your weaknesses.
    • The one “dragon” that a lot of us have is perfectionism. I think this is not usually the scary one though, people usually use it as a “show-off” flaw: What’s your biggest flaw? I’m such a perfectionist! It’s a challenge to live with perfectionism but it’s not the dragon that we’re ashamed of. The dragon we’re ashamed of are usually a little more personal and intimate and create slightly more intense emotions. As a woman, one of the dragons I’ve had a hard time taming was the desire to be attractive no matter what. In a professional setting women are expected to tone down that side of them, which is hard to come to terms with.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘I hope my book is going to be an individual and personal journey for every single person who’s going to read it. A journey back to yourself is a very unique destination and I cannot know where it takes.’
‘Authenticity is binary, you’re either authentic or you’re not quite true to yourself. Honesty has degrees related to the rest of the world, but it’s binary with your relationship with yourself.’
‘Your relationship with the world is a reflection of your relationship with yourself. It’s easier to be more tolerant and patient with the world if you are tolerant and patient with yourself.’
‘People should stay true to themselves, what “staying outstanding” means to each and every person is up to each and every person to decide.’

    ABOUT THE GUEST
Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani: As an entrepreneur, writer, speaker, philanthropist, and mother – I’ve been engaging in the personal transformation industry for over 19 years, collaborating and playing with leading thinkers and teachers in consciousness, relationships, human performance, and life optimisation.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • At some point during the game this girl made a serve and it was just awful. It became apparent to me that she had never been taught how to serve. My team decided that was a point and it was our turn to serve, but I thought: What sportsman, what person, wants to take a point from someone that doesn’t have the ability, that is trying to learn?
    • We give her the ball back and four or five times she re-takes the serves and each time the technique is non-existent. More out of luck than anything, on serve six she hits the ball over the net and makes a fantastic serve and everybody cheers her. The smile on her face was like the Cheshire Cat.
    • It doesn’t matter how good or how bad you are at something, by demonstrating to somebody that you are willing to give them a second chance you are showing that you have patience, tolerance, kindness in your heart, forgiveness, encouragement. Giving someone a second chance isn’t about winning, it’s about encouraging others to better results, and when you do that, surely you’ll find your own results become better.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘If you don’t encourage that person to learn and enjoy the sport, it’s more likely than not, after a period of time, that they will give up and go about life not liking beach volleyball.’
‘Even the good people started not getting their first serves in and people began to chant and shout “one more, one more” in Spanish. They followed on from my lead.’
‘Why not give somebody a second chance?’

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Just because things aren’t always easy it doesn’t mean that we should not accept them or not want them. It doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing to experience this. Why? Because this is the human experience. We are souls in mind and body. So, for us to simply say “as a soul, I don’t wish to experience what the mind and body does” is a practical impossibility because whether you like it or not you’re in this mind and body
    • A lot of spiritual people will tell you to always be positive and affirm. Don’t cry about your pet dying, they had a great life with you, you shared great memories with them, they’re not in pet heaven and they’re no longer in pain. To me this is absolute nonsense. You should feel those emotions, a sense of loss, why shouldn’t you?
    • I was asked recently on a podcast: What would I tell my 10-year-old self? My answer was to learn to direct my emotions. If you allow your emotions to lead you allow your ego to control. That’s not the best or the most conducive path to living as progressive life. One of the best ways to control emotions is to welcome them when they’re coming, accept them, express them , and let them go.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘In today’s world of spirituality and spiritual sales, a lot of people do not know what spirituality is, or they are merely suggesting it so that it enables their sales.’
‘We really must wake up to the fact that things are not perfect.’
‘Do not feel shame or guilt in experiencing human emotions. These are things that we really need to do because then we don’t carry them forward with us, we release them and let go.’

  • Seeking Truth With Vi Vi Thai

In this episode of the podcast Gavin is joined by Vi Vi Thai to talk about what it means to be a truth seeker.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • A truth seeker is someone who finds freedom from within to be who they are authentically, to be their true self. There’s many different teachings, religions, philosophies, and theories about life and the universe and about being ourselves as humans. For me, the truth is about walking my own path, following my own path in order to figure out that truth and that’s the path of a truth seeker for me.
    • I’m a nomad, living a free zen lifestyle, travelling everywhere to be wherever I want. This lifestyle has taught me a lot about myself, not just the freedom it’s given me but all the challenges that I had to go through and the lessons I had to learn from it to know who I am. It’s like building muscles but for your courage by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.
    • I had to overcome my fear of shame, failure and anxiety. The first stage I had to go through was to embark on a completely different lifestyle. It felt like being on the ground floor and having to deconstruct and reconstruct myself again and it was really difficult. I also had to overcome the fear of loneliness. Living the zen lifestyle, I often stay in remote places and find myself in nature which has helped me be independent without relying on my friends to have company. But it also helped me to be in a relationship with other people authentically.
    • I left my corporate life in the US with a background in engineering and decided not to go back to that lifestyle in order to do something I’m passionate about, which is travelling. Asian families have really high expectations for their children and I’d achieved the degrees and had got the career, but then I lost it. I was afraid to go back to Vietnam having ‘failed’ and spent so much money to do so, so I stayed in the US for as long as I could before I was living there illegally.

    BEST MOMENTS
‘You can learn from other people, but you don’t necessarily have to follow their exact footprint or path to find your truth because your truth is unique to you, you decide what is true and what is not.’
‘If I can make my tiny space like home then I can feel at home anywhere. Home is really within yourself, it’s not outside of you.’
‘Following your heart is the compass that will guide you home within yourself.’
‘The key for me to make progress is making little changes, 1% at a time so I don’t get overwhelmed and shut down, because then I’ll quit and I’m not moving forward.’

    ABOUT THE GUEST
Vi Vi Thai is a writer, truth seeker, healer and fearlessly determined to live a free lifestyle regardless of others’ opinions.
She uncovered her true life’s purpose after going through a dramatic and stressful time at the end of her stay in the US. During that time, she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at Texas A & M University and a Masters of Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University. At the end of 2017, she started a new life in Canada as a new immigrant, where she embarked on a one-of-a-kind van life adventure.

Living her life purpose, Vi helps others to find their path of freedom to live their authentic selves because only then can we all be living a fulfilled life of happiness. She believes that, as we find our own inner freedom, that is when the world can be free and liberate itself to evolve to a better place in the cosmos.
