On today's episode, Jason opens things up by taking a verbal blowtorch to Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett in the wake of the Denver Broncos' stunning loss to the Seattle Seahawks. What should have been Russell Wilson's triumphant return to Seattle was marred by arguably the worst NFL head coaching debut in recent memory. Hackett's clock management on the final drive was atrocious, and he doubled-down on the bad decision making by inexplicably taking the ball out of Wilson's hands in the final seconds. Look, it's only Week 1 and the season is far from over, but given how tough the Broncos schedule gets, these are the kind of layup games that you can't afford to fumble away. On the flip side, shout out to the maligned Geno Smith for turning in easily his best performance as a pro in the victory. There's almost no way Smith can keep that level of play up and the good vibes in Seattle should fade pretty quickly but it was a night to remember nonetheless. Guess the only question after this debacle on Monday Night is whether or not Hackett becomes the odds-on favorite to become the first NFL head coach to get fired. Mike McCarthy was already on thin ice in Dallas and he just lost Dak Prescott and Matt Rhule has been a dumpster fire in Carolina so Hackett should be safe but you never really know these days.

On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to all the biggest headlines to come out of Week 1 in the NFL. MVP candidates Aaron Rodgers and Joe Burrow absolutely stunk up the joint, but the biggest story to come out of Sunday's action has to be the unfortunate hand injury to Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys looked like they were headed to mediocrity anyway what with a patchwork offensive line and a slew of unproven receiving options, but with Dak expected to miss at least a month this season could go sideways in a hurry. Jerry Jones should be on the phone with the San Francisco 49ers right now trying to get Jimmy Garoppolo to Dallas. Having said that, if you're Jimmy G, are you sure you want to leave San Francisco right now? Trey Lance looked like a guy who hasn't played much meaningful football in over two years in the Niners' ugly loss to the Chicago Bears. The San Francisco roster is Super Bowl-ready right now, and if Lance can't turn things around here in the new few weeks, it would make a ton of sense for them to elevate Jimmy G to the starting role again. In other NFL news, Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes looked as good as advertised; their battles in the AFC West moving forward should be legendary. On the flip side, Bill Belichick's New England Patriots continue to flounder without Tom Brady. Is it safe to say that The Hoodie has lost his fastball? Finally, Lamar Jackson may have sent the Baltimore Ravens a subtle hint about his future in the Ravens' win over the New York Jets. You should definitely keep an eye on Baltimore moving forward.

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on Clemson's victory over Georgia Tech on Monday night. Embattled Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei got off to a slow start (much to the delight of the Twitter Trolls) but got back on track later in the game as Clemson cruised. DJU might never develop into the top-5 pick J-Mac predicted he would be, but it's definitely way too soon to bury him. Later, Jason does a deep dive on the College Football Playoff committee's decision to expand the field from four teams to twelve as soon as the 2024 season. Curmudgeons like Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy maintains there aren't twelve championship-worthy teams every year, but J-Mac argues the mere fact that teams like Utah or Oregon (who both had their 2022 national championship hopes dashed in week one) could make a run to the title in the new format means it's the right idea. By expanding the field, the committee ensured that we'll have more meaningful games late in the college football season than ever before. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show by explaining how the fully-guaranteed deal the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson has essentially ruined the NFL quarterback market. Lamar Jackson is looking for a similar contract but it's been reported that Baltimore Ravens ownership will 'never' offer a deal like that. Having said that, would the Ravens really regret giving Jackson a fully-guaranteed deal knowing that three years from now that deal could viewed as a bargain?
