She started to experience physically sicknesses and was lost. Since she was open to a broad “spiritual package” she also brought in some Bible verses. Slowly, there was a slow slide of her drawing closer to God. She still had a plan to be a witch with a guy she was with but heard a voice that told her to go to church. The Lord brought her miraculously back to her husband and they remarried again. Her story is full of twists and turns and all the miracle working God that is available to all of us. Church hurt is a word that has been used quite a bit lately but what does it mean? And if we have been hurt by a church, what does Jesus want for us in response? What we often don’t see when we are hurt is that it is the people of God who hurt us, but God’s heart is for us to be healed. Pastor Joe Dobbins is the lead pastor of Twin Rivers Church in Missouri, USA, and he write a book called “Hope After Church Hurt”. When the trauma and pain others have that they aren’t deal with affects us, it gets really hard. We want to just check out or leave or not continue that relationship. This is how divorce and broken families happens. But what about what God can do? How do we allow God to move in dry and hard ground where there isn’t permission by the person? For example, a spouse who is not a believer and continues to struggle with addiction, abusive language and heart towards others? People may or not be aware of the harm they are causing. Some of the harm may be name calling, belittling, impatience, passive aggressiveness, gaslighting, ignoring, and more. In this episode, you will hear how God can bring us and our loved ones into awareness of that which we are avoiding or unaware of. He is the God of the impossible. And that what we don’t love, we won’t have authority over.
