Subtypes of Enneagram Type Six

In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita and Seth "Creek" Creekmore discuss the subtypes for Enneagram Type Six, “Striving to Feel Secure.” This type reminds Mario of little birds making their nests as they need to secure their nests as well as their people in them. The three hosts explain how this need for security can make this type seem more anxious, detail-oriented and be at service to the group.

“To some people–and I put myself in that category–this is like ‘Why you worry so much?’ But it’s also a pretty good quality to have around. I mean, there’s an adaptive use to it. It’s good that somebody’s thinking to check the locks on the doors or check to make sure that we turn the gas off. So as with everything else done adaptively, it’s a really positive quality to have.” -Mario [12:00]

“Navigating Sixes can kind of blend more and sometimes if you don’t pay enough attention, it’s hard to identify them. They have–at work, at least–they’re very, very, I think they’re very loyal, but they want to be at the service of the group and the leader, and do whatever they think they need or expect from them.” -María José [21:04]

“I’m thinking of a few people in my head that I’m not entirely sure are Transmitting Sixes, but there’s a level of peacocking and just very opinionated, very go, but there’s a crippling self-doubt at the same time.” -Creek [31:57]
