Missing valuables, suspicious bank activity, and a string of phone calls from people claiming to be Carol and Reggie, explaining they'd traveled for a funeral. None of it added up. We get into how investigators traced it all back to a motel in South Carolina, who they found there, and just how far this group was willing to go for a car and a bank account.

This week on Super SUS, we're covering the 2003 murder of Katie Autry, an 18-year-old WKU freshman who was days away from finishing her first year of college, and a dental hygienist career, when a night out during Kentucky Derby weekend turned into the kind of case that still splits opinion in Bowling Green two decades later.

Katie made it back to her dorm. What happened after that is one of the most brutal things we've covered on this show, and it ended with a fire alarm, a room number nobody in Hugh Poland Hall will ever forget, and a young woman who somehow survived long enough to be pulled out alive.

Two names ended up in this story. One took a plea deal. The other walked out of a courtroom a free man, and Bowling Green has never fully agreed on whether that verdict was justice or a failure.

We get into the investigation, the alibis that didn't hold up, the ones that did, and the DNA that ultimately decided who paid for this and who didn't.

Shawna and David Scott built a good life in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, surrounded by family, when a woman who'd been practically raised alongside Shawna moved back to town and asked to stay with them while her house — right across the street — got renovated. It should have been a nice full-circle moment. Instead it turned into a year most people wouldn't believe if they hadn't lived through it: property disputes, false reports, near-daily 911 calls, and harassment so bizarre the county couldn't even charge her for most of it. We get into how it started, how it escalated, and how far Frances Zaayer was willing to go.

In this episode of Super SUS, we cover the case of Trent DiGiuro, a University of Kentucky football player who was shot and killed on his own porch in 1994 while celebrating his upcoming 21st birthday with friends. A single shot struck him in the head just before 3:00 a.m. Police had almost nothing to go on, and despite heavy publicity and a reward, the case went cold for six years.

Then someone came forward with information that finally cracked it open. What followed was a conviction, an overturned verdict, and a plea deal that let the man responsible walk free years later. Trent's family has been fighting for real accountability ever since.

In this episode of Super SUS, we cover the case of Phoebe Handsjuk, a 24-year-old woman who was found dead at the bottom of a garbage chute in the Balencea luxury high-rise in Melbourne, Australia, in December 2010. She was twelve floors below the apartment she shared with her much older boyfriend, an events promoter named Anthony "Ant" Hampel.

Police closed the case in five days and called it an accident. Phoebe's family never bought it. And the deeper you go, the harder it is to understand how anyone did.

This one has details that will genuinely floor you, a family that has spent 15 years refusing to let their daughter's name disappear, and a second young woman connected to Ant who died eight years later in circumstances just as strange.

This week on Super SUS, we cover the case of Michael and Lori Shaver, middle school sweethearts from upstate New York who built a life together in Clermont, Florida. Michael worked for Disney's monorail. Lori worked from home. From the outside, it looked like the dream.

By 2015, the marriage was falling apart. Michael was last physically seen in November 2015, and then things got strange. He became a no-call/no-show at Disney, sent bizarre "I quit" messages, and popped up online just often enough to keep the questions at bay. Lori said he'd walked out on the family and moved on.

It took until 2018 for someone to look closer. What deputies found changed everything.

This week on Super SUS, we cover the attempted murder of Greg Mulvihill, and the genuinely unbelievable piece of evidence that cracked it open.

Greg and Diana Lovejoy were a San Diego tech couple, married in 2007. They'd been through a lot together before having a son in 2012. From there things started to fall apart, and by 2014 they'd separated.

On September 1, 2016, a phone call lured Greg to a dark trail after dark. What happened next, and how investigators pieced it together, is a story you have to hear to believe.

This week on Super SUS, we cover the disappearance of 39-year-old Maya Millete. On January 7, 2021, a security camera caught her walking into her home in Chula Vista, California. No camera ever caught her coming out. She hasn't been seen since.

Maya was a contract specialist at the Naval Information Warfare Center and a mother of three. That same day, she'd called a divorce law office to set up a consultation. The people closest to her say she'd been afraid for a while, and she'd told them as much. What she said about her own safety before she vanished is hard to shake.

We're back with part two, and this is where the "accident" story starts to fall apart.

We pick up right after the July 31, 2022 crash in Strongsville, Ohio that killed Dominic "Dom" Russo and Davion Flanagan, and we walk through how this case went from a tragic wreck to murder charges. The turning point is the evidence, and trust us, there's a lot of it.

We dig into what the car itself revealed, what investigators pieced together from the days leading up to the crash, and a hospital recording that had everyone talking. Then we get into the trial, the verdict, the sentence, and the defense that tried to explain it all away.

We also talk through the Netflix documentary, her continued claims of innocence, and where the two of us land on intent and punishment, because we don't see this one exactly the same way.

This week we're diving into part one of the Mackenzie Shirilla case, and trust us, this one has layers.

It all starts in the early morning hours of July 31, 2022, in Strongsville, Ohio. At 5:35 a.m., 17-year-old Mackenzie drove her 2018 Toyota Camry straight into a brick building going over 100 mph. The crash killed her boyfriend, 20-year-old Dominic "Dom" Russo, and his friend, 19-year-old Davion Flanagan, who made the last-minute decision to hop in the car that night.

We get into who these young men were: Dom and his close-knit Italian-American family, and Davion, his adoption, his athletics, and his dream of becoming a barber. From there we start pulling at the threads of Mackenzie and Dom's relationship, and let's just say the deeper we go, the more questions come up.

Investigators had their own theory about what really happened that morning, and the evidence they uncovered is a lot. But we're not getting ahead of ourselves just yet.
