TRIGGER WARNING** This episode may be distressing to some. Mentions of trauma, SI, mental health experiences.
I'm sharing some of my experience in the mental health system in California to provide more context into why I feel so strongly about holistic recovery and not solely relying on traditional systems for recovery and support.
Please note that I'm not an expert and everything included here is from my lived experience. I am never suggesting that everyone should do what I've done to recover but instead simply aim to provide a more varied perspective that I feel is lacking in the wider mental health space as a queer and neurodivergent woman of color.
