Laura Campbell joins me today to chat all things switching her sitch from a corporate creative to creating an e-commerce product, Hackerlily and launching online.
Laura and I were introduced through the Mums & Co. Community as 2 business owners solving potentially hazardous problems in the child safety space (her with Hackerlily and myself with Buckle Bandage).
Laura and I share the journey of creating a product from scratch, with no previous product design or manufacturing experience. We chew the logistics on what can right and what can go wrong with materials and supply. We also discuss the beauty of having no commercial rental space and launching purely online. Both Laura and I have completely bootstrapped our products ourselves with no external funding and not having to mortgage our family homes!
This is a must listen for anyone who is thinking of, or is in the midst of growing an e-commerce business. This is especially important for those who want to self fund and minimise financial risk.
This podcast had me checking my environment from the get go!
Tara Hurster, registered psychologist and founder of the Tara Clinic shares her passion for helping people switch their behavioural patterns. Tara shares her findings as to why people find themselves addicted to certain behaviours and substances and how this is often viewed as weakness. We discuss the theory behind addiction, how your environment contributes to behaviour and how addiction is perceived in society.
Tara and her team recognise addiction doesn’t discriminate, and set up the TARA Clinic to support busy and successful people regain control over substance use and addiction while leaving shame and guilt at the door.
The TARA Clinic, where TARA is an acronym for Therapeutic Addiction Recovery Assistance, is the modern solution to addiction treatment.
This is a must listen for anyone who feels they need to switch their sitch for the better, without the guilt and shame and with a better set of tools to do so.
This podcast had me picking up my knitting needles for those in need from the get go!
Ten years ago the founder and CEO of Comfort Quilts Against Cancer, Bronwyn Dunn, lost a dear friend Monica to breast cancer. Bronwyn wanted to find a way to honour Monica’s memory and as both were passionate crafters it felt natural for Bronwyn to commemorate her memory by starting a quilting charity. In January 2012 Comfort Quilts Against Cancer was launched and three months later on the anniversary of her friend’s death, the first quilt was gifted.
As of the end of 2021 over 2000 quilts have been sent to recipients. Bronwyn and I chew the quilt on how large a task they took on when endeavouring to set up a a registered Not for Profit charity. How they manage to fund the operations and how many volunteers they manage to ensure those in need are looked after in their most darkest hours.
Bronwyn shares her recipients joy when receiving the quilts and that alone keeps her going whilst remaining employed as a virtual assistant.
This is a must listen for anyone who needs to find a source of inspiration in helping others or are thinking of embarking upon setting up a NFP organisation..
This podcast had me humming from the get go! Today Alysse joins me to chat how she found a gap in the market for children leading children through meditation and helping our kids find calmness in a chaotic world.
As a qualified Early Childhood Educator and Kids Yoga Teacher, Alysse Di Natale has spent her career educating and supporting the well-being of young people. She has worked directly with kids for over 15 years and gained incredible insight into their needs. She is renowned for her ability to listen and connect with children and over the last 6 years, has also been teaching 'Young Yoga'.
These experiences inspired Alysse to create 'Meditate with Friends' (MWF), to address the increasing need and desire of kids for quiet and stillness in their surprisingly demanding day. "They always asked for more meditation and said how calm & happy it made them feel."
This is a must listen for anyone who has made the switch from delivering a service face to face locally to transitioning online to be able to deliver that same service globally.
This podcast had my hallucinating from the get go!
Frank Ligons joins me all the way from Pittsburgh USA and shares his 25 year battle with mental health, including repeated suicidal thoughts to stumbling on ketamine therapy which he attributes to be his saviour.
Like most people, Frank had only heard of ketamine as a "club drug" and "animal tranquilizer." Upon further research, he was surprised to discover that Ketamine is the world's most commonly used aesthetic, well known for its safety and affordability.
Doctors discovered that depression sufferers treated with small doses (much lower than the aesthetic dose) often remitted. Once Frank went for treatment, he was stunned when this astonishing procedure stopped his 25 years of suicidal thoughts in their tracks! That was over three years ago and while Frank attends monthly boosters, his suicidal ideations have never returned.
To spread the good news, Frank wrote a book for others who needed similar hope and help. IV Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Depression: Why I Tried It, What It's Like, and If It Worked was published in May of 2021 and has been an Amazon best seller in several categories since that time. . It's a must-have for anyone considering ketamine for themselves or a loved one.
This is a must listen for anyone who has ever suffered due to poor mental health, and how doctors are using ketamine in a controlled and heavily administrated environment to help improve the lives of many. (NB This is not advocating ketamine to be used unaided or without professional supervision).
This podcast had me leaving the corporate world for passion and purpose as soon as Christine began sharing her story on today's episode.
Christine Innes shares her transition from the corporate grind of 9-5 to launching her own company that helps inspire others to do the same.
This is a journey many have experienced themselves, the burn out, the inflexibility despite the adoption of much technology in the workplace and hitting rock bottom before making that switch.
Christine and I grind our way through various topics, including the demise of her marriage and finances and how her mission has become to help other heart centered businesses to share their story, connect and grow their business.
This podcast had me inspired from the first bell! Kaye Scott joins me today to chat all things winning Silver at the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and how she was the first female in NSW to break the boxing bias and compete in the ring!
There were so many inspiring topics that we sank our fists into, including the financial commitment to pursue a love of sport and how little funding was available. We chat how much Kaye won as a silver medallist and as the No2 female Welterweight Champion in the whole of The Commonwealth (made my eyes water)!
Kaye and I share her journey of grit, determination and what her weekly training schedule and nutrition look like. We touch on todays taboo topic of Transgender competition in Sport, how ageism is perceived in sport and how inspirational as a role model she is to up and coming females in sport.
This podcast had me thirsty for a beer or two from the first mention of a brewery.
Michael Kolodin had been deep in the finance game, both as a certified trainer and owner of The Collection Training Institute which was represented in the US, Mexico and India before making the switch to beverages in 2017.
Michael was approached by his now business partner, Sandeep in India to see if they could form an alliance that would set up a one stop shop, a total end to end brewery that would provide a solution for every aspect of the brewery industry. The Total Beverage Company was born!
Michael and I discuss embarking on the journey of a cross- cultural partnership and entering an industry that was hugely diverse to that he was used to. We chat how they have ensured all global tastes are looked after when brewing beers and hard seltzers, and how investment was crucial to their rapid growth.
This podcast had me dreaming of hyaluronic acid from the get go! Today Marnina joins me to chat all this dermal therapy, switching from face to face consultations to an online platform during Covid all whilst having a baby in tow!
Marnina, a graduate in dermal sciences with post-graduate qualifications in micropigmentation and skin cancer discuss how a service based industry can be challenging when presented with pandemics like Covid. Marnina launched her first online business, Dermhealth.co, a social enterprise platform dedicated to educate others on chronic skin conditions. It provided her with tools and lessons when building an online business with minimal income as it was built to empower others rather than profit driven.
Like many, including myself Marnina felt the burn out of having a young family, pivoting through COVID and making ends meet. The next step was to help other businesses transition online, helping them and her new business Digital Health Co make profit in unprecedented times. With the desire to help not only clients but the salons that look after them, she launched Digital Health Co
Marnina and I discuss the BIG topics in entrepreneurship, dealing with Imposter Syndrome, the need for a resilient work ethic and that getting what you want generally takes sacrifices in the short term.
