Syracuse made Andre Jackson the bedrock of what could become the final recruiting core of the Jim Boeheim era. We want him to coach John's son one day, but it's probably not possible. 

So UConn's surprise victory set back the Orange not just for 2020-21, it also gives fresh programs a recruiting lineage to carry to ensuing class. Dan Hurley, Mike Hopkins and others began long-term programs in recent years. No matter how long Boeheim coaches, they're behind those teams in establishing what's next. 

Whether that's good or bad depends on expectations. Boeheim and company can and will recruit strong classes of undervalued talent. WIthout a Jackson though, it's reasonable to question if there will be one last run at a title in this Boeheim era. 

Those are some of the various layers Bobby and James dug into after a week of murmurs about Jackson to UConn concluded with his Wednesday decision. Another few weeks also brought news of California's college athlete payment law (for endorsements) and sanctions for Kansas and Georgia Tech. No NCAAs for the Jackets!?
