Syracuse slipped by Oakland by 12 on Wednesday, but led by only single digits for most of the game. An inside look at their day in Central New York by Matthew Gutierrez revealed how the Golden Grizzlies entered the Dome fully confident they could beat a beleaguered Orange team and left feeling like they lost a game they should've won. 

The Orange advanced to 6-5, with only two weaker non-conference foes left. Though they haven't lost to a bad team yet, their defense is littered with issues. So many that Oakland's coach said it wasn't the zone he was expecting. 

Bobby Manning welcomed Brent Axe for all this, Jim Boeheim's rant against the crowd and a look ahead to North Florida on Friday. 

"Anybody they play that just have decent interior play, they have an opportunity to have a career day against the Orange because the defense is not there," Axe said.
