  • SURVIVAL TRADING
In this week’s episode of Talking Trading we hear from Anton Destounis who suffered a severe spinal injury and turned to the markets to SURVIVE. Anton turned a hobby into a PASSION and PURPOSE for living that has saved him emotionally mentally and financially. Niv Dagan also tells us what to look for in the next winning IPO, Chris Tate gives his trading quote of the week and Louise Bedford tells us to do one thing each week to improve your trading. Chris Tate Quote – Trading SurvivabilityThe market is a cruel paradox in that you have to survive long enough in order to be profitable. The motto is… keep surviving.  Mindpower – Do one thing a weekEvery great trader has suffered creeping doubts, worries that they wouldn’t excel and fears they weren’t making the money they felt they deserved. You are not alone. This week find one thing that improves your trading and then find one more thing each week. It is only through REPETITION and FOCUS that your results become as big as your ambitions. Anton DestounisLife for this corporate cat became very different when he suffered a severe spinal injury and found himself lying flat on his back every day unable to work or move. The markets rescued him. Not just financially but mentally and emotionally. They became his PASSION and gave him PURPOSE and a means of SURVIVAL.‘A man without a vision shall perish.’ so sayeth the Bible and Adonis has not only learnt to keep his dreams alive in spite of his condition he has learnt to financially thrive. How to identify the winning IPO? – Niv Dagan Peak Asset ManagementIdentifying the next winning IPO can be a risky venture but it can also be profitable. According to Niv there are 5 key questions you should be asking yourself before you press ‘buy’.1.Management - Ask yourself what the company has done in the past, what their future aspirations are and what is their strategy?2. Identifying the Sector - Is the sector hot at the moment and has momentum going forward?3. Scalability - What is the ability of the company to expand and take it across cities and continents?4. Competitive Advantage - What makes your product or service better than others in the market?5. Valuation - Am I paying too much or too little for this business and where is the EXIT strategy for investors? To subscribe to Niv’s morning and afternoon market wrap go to: http://goo.gl/forms/og7q5Z0cYm

  • RICH VERSUS POOR THINKING with Michael Yardney
Ready to be the pilot of your own life? In this week’s episode property expert Michael Yardney explains the differences between the way the RICH and the POOR think. In fact if all the wealth was re-distributed evenly around the Western world,  in time it would end up in the exactly same hands. This is because the rich think a certain way and believe certain things. Ever noticed that there are no rich victims? This interview shows you how to move your subconscious thinking into financial fluency and being the pilot of your life. Michael Yardney – Metropole Property SolutionsThe RICH Australian thinks a certain way:They are the PILOT of their livesThe CAUSE of their conditions They take RESPONSIBILITY for themselvesThis is in stark contrast to how the average Australian views their world who tends to blame circumstances for their wealth. There is a theory that if all the money was distributed evenly around the western world then it would end up in exactly the same hands. This is because the rich have learnt to think a different way. They have not only become financially fluent they have adjusted their subconscious belief systems to be the pilot and not the passengers of their life. Have you ever noticed that there are no rich victims? Here are some of the stark differences in thinking between the rich and poor Australian:87% of poor people believe you must be intellectually gifted in order to become wealthy whereas only 10% rich people thought that.22% of poor people believed that optimism was important to success whereas 54% of rich people believed it was.82% of poor people believed they were not the cause of their poverty whereas 79% believed they were cause of their financial condition.90% of poor people believed fate determined your wealth whereas only 10% of wealthy people believed so.To find out more about your subconscious beliefs and the property market go to www.michaelyardney.com.au or subscribe to Michael’s blog at: www.propertyupdate.com.au

In this episode of Talking Trading Gary Stone from Share Wealth Systems discusses why ETFs are GAME CHANGERS on the world markets. With lower volatility than individual stocks ETFs are like Goldilocks and Baby Bear – they are JUST RIGHT for every type of investor and in Gary’s view should become the backbone of investors’ portfolios.  Plus also hear the beginnings of the bears’ stampede around the world in our market wrap. Market Wrap – Chris Weston Chief Market Strategist IG MarketsThere is a market sell off around the world. The bears started growling in the USA as the S&P 500 finally broke through convincing support levels. Meantime in Australia there is a bloodbath - influenced by both the heavy Asian downturn and market action in the USA that has sent the bears stampeding Down Under. Gary Stone – ETFsWhat do ETFs and Goldilocks have in common? They are just right.Just like baby bear’s porridge, chair and bed were just right for Goldilocks - ETFs are JUST RIGHT for every type of investor and in Gary’s view should be the backbone of investor’s portfolios. With lower volatility than individual stocks ETFs are designed to track the index offering a long-term portfolio view for investors of all categories.Warren Buffet has famously said that when he dies he wants his wife to invest ALL her money into Vanguard’s ETF.So if ETF’s are so effective as a portfolio tool why has Australia been slow on their uptake of them? • Workplace Changes and Trading Freedom
This week’s episode of Talking Trading looks at Catherine Robert’s foray into the trading world. Compelled by the pressure of a toxic work environment, Catherine pursued the Mentor Program to provide her with a second income and a new outlook on life. Hear about her growth in personal development, her wins in the market and her amazing meeting of another Trading Game mentoree. Also find out what Louise Bedford has to say about getting out of your comfort zone in Mindpower and where the big money really lies. Catherine Roberts - Trading Game 2014 MentoreeCatherine Roberts grew up thinking that an EDUCATION and A CAREER would make her FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT.When she found out that wasn’t the case she started looking for options…A toxic work environment was the final shove Catherine needed to enroll in the Trading Game Mentor Program and seek alternative means of income.Knowing she had the skills to become a trader, she has ploughed the markets for over a year winning handsomely in the energy sectors in 2014.The toxic work environment proved to be a blessing in disguise, not only did she meet a fellow Trading Game mentoree in a new job, she has grown in personal development to take control of her life and her financial future. In Catherine’s opinion if you are a successful trader then you are successful in life. She no longer wastes time wishing for things and achieving someone else’s goals, she consciously achieves her own. Mindpower with Louise BedfordDeclare you are ready.Once you declare you are ready options will open up in your life.High achievers are frustrated a lot of the time - being mellow and getting to the top just don’t go together. To get out of your current money zone you have to get out of your current comfort zone. Leaps are required and to leap you have to leave solid ground behind. But once you do, you get used to flying and that is where The Big Money lies.    Highlights of Talking Trading are also available on Louise Bedford’s Soundcloud.Additional Music by Kevin MacLeod http://www.incompetech.com

  • CROSS OF VALOUR TRADING with Allan Sparkes
Allan Sparkes is a HERO. He is one of 5 recipients of the Cross of Valour, Australia’s highest bravery decoration and the civilian equivalent to The Victorian Cross. It is awarded to people who have risked their own lives to save others. But being a hero came at a cost and Allan suffered severe post-traumatic stress disorder. This is his journey and the power of pursuing a dream to create an extraordinary life. You'll find lots of life lessons and trading lessons in this very special Talking Trading episode. Allan SparkesAllan Sparkes was a policeman in the NSW force for over 20 years. His rescue of a young boy swept 600 metres down a storm water drain turned him into a National Hero. But his bravery came at cost. Years of police work took their toll and after rescuing Jai Gallaway from drowning and seeing two of his police comrades shot down on a night raid he spiralled into post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and the depths of suicide. The strength of his wife and family and the faint dream of sailing the world carried him to London where he boarded a yacht with his family. In the middle of the Pacific Ocean he threw his demons overboard and looked toward the future where he began rebuilding his sense of self worth and creating a new life. This is a journey of one man who went to hell and back and rebuilt himself an extraordinary life. His message to traders: go and do the things the things you want to do because those experiences will live with you every single day of your life. You can read more about Allan's experiences in his book - The Cost of Bravery. A Quick Word from Louise bedfordThis episode may confront you because it deals with topics such as post traumatic stress disorder, death and suicide. If you or someone you know has ever dealt with these issues, I urge you to seek help. Most suicides seem like a shock, but then as time ticks by, friends and relatives of the deceased have their memories triggered. They realise that there were some warning signs. It seems that around 80% of suicide victims mentioned they were considering it. Even if they're not specifically talking about it, there are some behavioural triggers that you need to be on the lookout for. For example, some suicide victims systematically prepare for their own death by putting their affairs in order and making visits to their friends to say their version of 'good-bye'.Statistically, there is quite a high probability you’ll eventually know someone who will commit suicide. It might be someone from your family, or perhaps one of your friends.I urge you to stay vigilant. Be non-judgemental when you confront, but yes, by all means confront, and open up the lines of communication. Risk making a fool of yourself by bringing up the topic. Even risk seriously p#$ing someone off. If you save one life, it would be worth it.Consult a professional organisation such as Beyond Blue for more information.   Highlights of Talking Trading are also available on Louise Bedford’s Soundcloud.Additional Music by Kevin MacLeod http://www.incompetech.com

  • CHINA’S PANIC
This week’s episode of Talking Trading features a panel of experts on the panic in the Chinese market and the repercussions for Australian traders. China expert Daryl Guppy takes us through the mechanical problems of the Chinese market and how this resulted in the large sell off. He further discusses Australia’s future in the Asia Pacific Region. We also hear Jonathan Barratt’s thoughts on China and the price of iron ore. And finally Chris Tate in his usual style tells us we are one short of the three stooges running amok in the world financial markets. Daryl Guppy – CEO of Guppy TradersChina Expert Daryl Guppy lays out 4 mechanical causes of China’s panic:1)Stocks can only move 10% per day then they get locked limit up or limit down2) You cannot go short on the Chinese stock exchange3) Suspension of stocks from trading which means if you have an open position you cannot get out of it4) Trading is only for 4 hours per day. What is happening in the Shanghai Stock market in not related to the underlying economy. Although we are seeing a slow down in China the economy is still strong and we will be seeing an aggressive roll out of large-scale infrastructure projects within South Sea Asia and possibly the top end of Australia.Daryl tells us what he is doing with his positions at the moment and where to seek the opportunities. Jonathan BarrattJono’s thoughts on China’s market are they are less of a panic when you are a socialist market economy. We also hear about the margin call on iron ore and its drop in price.  Chris TateWhat we are seeing in China is a conflict between an immature market and runaway leverage.Their market lost 3.9 trillion last week in wealth, which is larger than the GDP of every country on earth bar the USA, Germany and Japan.Between China and Greece the two crises in the market at the same time is unusual and is not something Chris would expect to see again in his lifetime. He says we are one short of the trifecta of the three stooges running amok in the world of financial markets.Chris also shares his perspective on the Aussie market at the moment – moribund and stuffed. He tells traders to go and diversify.  Highlights of Talking Trading are also available on Louise Bedford’s Soundcloud.Additional Music by Kevin MacLeod http://www.incompetech.com
