Before that, Delsy and Brenda talk about the challenges and joys of making and maintaining friendships as adults—why it’s harder, what helps, and how to build and maintain meaningful connections.

Delsy is back for this powerful conversation about how to accept our aging and changing bodies. We discuss how we’re embracing or attempting to embrace how we’re changing in our bodies, how cultural expectations on Latinas have impacted our perspectives, and how notions of what is “healthy” has evolved.
Next, we speak to Dalina Soto, also known as “Your Latina Nutritionist” across social media where she helps folks heal their relationship with food. Dalina and I have an insightful conversation about how white supremacy shows up in our notions of health and the ways that she’s using her CHULA method to empower folks to make food choices that feel good for our bodies and cultures. Dalina’s new book The Latina Anti-Diet: A Dietitian’s Guide to Authentic Health That Celebrates Culture And Full-Flavor Living, is out now.

90s Nostalgia with Artivist Julio Salgado
Today’s episode is a two-part conversation with artist and activist Julio Salgado. Viewers can see Julio’s vibrant art work at immigrant rights rallies, the LA Times, or promoting one of LA’s greatest dance nights, Cumbiaton. Julio’s status as an undocumented, queer artivist has fueled the contents of his visual art, which depict key individuals and moments of the migrant rights movement. Recorded at the end of a long week, these two elder millennials, Brenda and Julio, from the class of 2001, revisit some of the female vocalists of the '90s who shaped Jullio’s early experiences living in the US.
Through this chat, we’ll take you on a nostalgic journey through the sounds of an era when women were taking center stage fronting bands in the 90s and into the early 2000s; and we’ll draw some parallels to some of the leading women in music today.
I asked Julio to pick five songs for us to discuss and you can hear what songs we reference through this playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/02bVhKS9ihFMiGIJGEswUc?si=c8b2e64c809c43ff
We had such a fun time approaching our convo like some of our favorite podcasts, Las Cultureistas and Vibe Check, we completely lost track of time. So, check back on your Tamarindo Feed to catch part 2 of this conversation.

We talk to our friend and therapist Daniela Sarmina and ask her to share with us some helpful resources and tips on how we can cope with the chaos that's been around us since the election. Daniela, or Dani as we like to call her, is a licensed therapist, creative, and student of life. Born in Mexico City and raised in the San Joaquin Valley, she draws from her lived experience to help others uncover and honor their own strength and wisdom. A self-proclaimed goofball, with a BA in theater, she incorporates elements of play, joy, compassion and science to help others manage life stressors and achieve their goals. Dani tells us about her journey into becoming a therapist and gives us practical tips to help us practice self care during these challenging times. Plus, on this Tamarindo Podcast exclusive, she launches the Wellness Playground where she’ll be sharing her expertise through her private practice. Follow her work on Instagram: @wellnesss_playground

On this episode we welcome back climate justice leader, Marce Gutiérrez-Graudiņš and discuss her unwavering commitment to keep our oceans clean and to galvanizing the Latine community to get involved. We discuss the threat that this administration poses on climate conservation efforts, and what lessons we can take from environmental disasters like the recent Los Angeles fires. Marce is the founder of Azul, the first U.S. organization dedicated to elevating Latinx voices in ocean justice. As two bicultural Mexicanas, you’ll also hear us briefly discuss Emilia Perez, the controversial musical that hasn’t stopped making headlines.
