  • Pivoting with Purpose and Breakthrough covid case
“So many of us have equated being social with each other as marketing ourselves and behaving in ways that feel marketable, moving away from being human-based beings”
A genuine and sincere episode where Amy discusses how she dealt with toxic positivity when first creating MoodConnect, her experience with Covid and how we should all try and connect with each other, and ourselves, in a real and more authentic way.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Amy started MoodConnect to create a space where people could feel comfortable about sharing how they authentically felt. She found that in the testing phase most people weren’t very comfortable with being honest about how they were really feeling.
Amy decided to prioritise her own health and wellbeing, which is why she created her own business, to have the freedom to create what she wanted as well as having the flexibility to give herself and her daughter what they needed in life.
If one person isn’t living freely, are we all free? This is a question Amy kept and keeps adding herself, which is why she wants to be able to help others, especially those she already ‘benefits from’. She came to the realisation that if companies looked after their employees that would be better for society and better for business.
Amy was determined to create a space that would help improve the mental health and wellbeing of employees but allowing for opportunities for authentic human contact and interaction too. This is how MoodConnect was born.
In May Amy suffered a breakthrough case of cover, she had recently been double vaccinated. She suffered for weeks with all the common symptoms and was a really difficult time for her.
    BEST MOMENTS
“They would apologise for not being too happy”
“I’m able to decide when to do something and able to prioritise my own schedule”
“It’s way more cost efficient to look after your employees”
“The real value is in our experiences as human beings with each other”

My Tree is an eclectic musical collaboration that straddles the boundaries of R&B, indie rock, and experimental music. When algorithms are decoding more music into homogeneous playlists, My Tree challenges this norm to bring music and people of disparate worlds together. Press from 2017's full-length release AfterGlow described the music as "Seductive, interstellar funk” and an "experimental blend of indie rock, jazz, funk, and dream pop” [The Deli Magazine] with “the perfect mix of skill and energy to keep you hooked from start to finish" [Earmilk]. Featuring acclaimed alto-saxophonist and flutist Caroline Davis in a distinct role as a vocalist, and keyboardist Ben Hoffmann, this collaboration features songs that seek to uplift, while at the same time pointing to the current challenges we face in the United States. My Tree is the soundtrack for the inevitable ushering in of the new world order.

  • A New Direction
In this episode, Amy wants to share a bit about her life journey, how things are going now but also what got her to this place and the challenges she has had to face.
An authentic, genuine and inspiring episode where Amy shows how resilient and strong she has had to be and still is, but also how open and kind she is towards others.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
For a lot of Amy’s life, she has been a people pleaser and hasn’t expressed her real feelings due to fear. Fear of rejection and of losing people. She believes this came from her childhood, that it was a coping mechanism.
Take a moment to see what is it inside of you that is hurting so much that you need to hurt someone else. If we hurt others we are harming ourselves too. We should do what makes us feel joy but none of that should hurt someone else.
    BEST MOMENTS
“A lot of me came out in a really important way”
“A lot of people find their chosen family through their friendships”
“People should do what brings them joy”

  • Authenticity, Boundaries and Clubhouse: Speaking with Gen-Z Mental Health Advocate Maral Golestani
In this episode Amy speaks with Maral Golestan. Maral is 18 and already making waves as a Gen Z Mental Health advocate, writer, artist, and activist. She is the founder of the “Gen Z Mental Health” club on clubhouse (which already has over 500 followers!) and has so much knowledge and insight into the world already. Listen in as they discuss clubhouse, media and of course, mental health.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Maral started the Gen-Z Mental Health club on clubhouse 6 weeks ago. Maral has had her own struggles with mental health and she didn’t receive a lot of support or recognition from her family. She wanted to create a space where she and others could support those who aren’t getting the help and support they need.
The more people who can create spaces like Meral’s clubhouse room and Moodconnect the more supported and less alone those with mental health struggles will feel. We need to remove the stigma and recognise that it’s part of the human experience, it is not a weakness.
People connect with those who know who they are, who are comfortable being their true authentic self. This is why Maral has been able to gain such a following and trust from so many people. Next she wants to focus on video but she knows the likes of youtube and tiktok are a whole different challenge to clubhouse.

    BEST MOMENTS
“She’s changing the world, she cares so much about helping people and changing how people feel about mental health and wellness”

“It’s not a bad thing to have a therapist, it’s not a negative thing”

“If you don’t have boundaries people will feel like they can do anything and you will lose all of your time and it can harm your mental health…you are living for other people and people allow themselves to violate you”

Diane’s goal is serenity. That her own personal wellbeing is what is important. Other people talk about ‘balance’ but this looks different for everyone. For her it’s not about what things happen in life but how you choose to cope and deal with those things that counts.

In this authentic, spiritual and inspiring episode, Amy speaks with Dani the Tea Lady. They delve deep into mental health, psychology as well as Dani’s journey into the power of healing and botanicals.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Dani has always loved cooking, it all began when she started helping at home, she went to culinary school where she learnt a lot but after graduating she went home to help look after her grandmother. Dani didn’t really use what she learnt until she started her tea company, where she is trying to incorporate what she learnt as well as teaching her daughter all she knows.
Dani’s love for talking and expressing her feelings and thoughts is what led her to creating the community ‘Tea talks’, she then began calling herself Dani the Tea Lady and manifesting this persona. Dani now has her own blend of tea and has started her journey of learning in botanicals and the healing benefits of drinking tea.
Sciatica pain is something Dani suffers with. It’s extremely painful but she has found that there are things she can do in the way of herbal medicine to help ease this pain. Amy has also found similar benefits for herself when she has migraines, headaches and other ailments.
Speaking with others in a supportive and open environment can be so healing, for trauma as well as anyone struggling with their mental health. This is something Dani tries to incorporate with her Tea Talks and will continue to do so as she branches out into other areas.
Both Amy and Dani are clubhouse users (an audio based social media app) and have gained so much knowledge from others on there, particularly in regards to mental wellbeing and psychology. Dani and Amy will be collaborating on a room soon – not to be missed!

    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Moodconnect all started when Amy began mediating for herself. One day when she came out of meditating a question came to her, which was “how am I feeling”.
Amy hurt her head this week, immediately after this she found out her friend had unexpectedly passed away. It made her start reflecting on what would happen if she was not here. It meant she started reflecting on what would happen to her daughter and brought up all sorts of emotions around her relationship with her sister.
No matter who you are, you deserve to have the ability to surround yourself with people who are going to care about you, support you and love you. No one should have to be put in a position where they have to deal with people who are going to abuse them.
If you are struggling with a relationship with someone and all you are doing is hurting each other, Amy says it can be helpful to ‘let them go with love’. It allows you to be open to received love and help from other people and to use your energy for the community of people who are there to support you.
When you have love in your heart you cannot be afraid. But when you have fear, you can’t let love in. Love is the opposite of fear. Amy doesn’t believe there are toxic people in this world, she believes that we learn how to treat others by how we are treated and who teaches us.

    BEST MOMENTS
“It’s not very easy to hold space for people when they are not ok, when they are not doing well”

“I felt really heartbroken, I just love my sister, but I had to let her go, I had to let her go with love”

  • Say YES to Yourself! Interviewing Kamille Richardson
In this episode, Amy speaks to Kamille Richardson, an entrepreneur, advocate and CEO and Co-founder of two companies! Amy first heard Kamille on the Women in Power room on clubhouse and knew this was a woman she really needed to talk to!

    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Kamille was born completely blind but she never felt like she had any limitations as a child because of this. Her network always supported her and expected her to achieve and master many challenges. Although her family were great, once she became an adult she began to realise that people made a lot of assumptions about her and her capabilities. This meant she spent a lot of time building her confidence and self-esteem back up so she could prove people wrong.
It was when Kamille started working in the blind community she realised that she could make a real difference, as well as a business, by offering help and support for those who had recently/suddenly lost their sight, particularly in how to use their phone and make it an aid for them in their new life.
Kamille was a massage therapist for 11 years, she was very good but she never felt like it came naturally to her. She loved talking to people but she never actually enjoyed the work.
Having to make big decisions can be incredibly hard and Kamille isn’t immune to self-doubt and negative thoughts. But she overcomes this with exercises to improve her mindset.
Clubhouse is a new social media platform but has helped Kamille do incredible things already. One of the bonuses she finds is that people get to find out about who she is and what she is about without knowing she is blind; she isn’t pre-judged by her disability.
Nature can be a source of inspiration and healing. This is something Kamille finds regularly, she particularly enjoys listening to birds, they sound so content and happy.
Kamille would encourage everyone to say yes to yourself, once you do this so many doors will open. Don’t worry too much about the how and just know that things will happen for you.
