Filmmaker Terry George is known for his true-life depictions of real characters and events. He made his screenwriting debut in1993 with In the Name of the Father, starring Daniel Day-Lewis. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards including best-adapted screenplay. He went on to write and direct the film Some Mother's Son, starring Helen Mirren and later, earned his second Oscar nomination for the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda. Terry George also served as executive producer of the CBS series, The District, and his numerous credits include the 2007 film Reservation Road, and the Oscar winning short film, The Shore.
