In this concluding part to our Monster of Florence episode, we recount the crimes so far and delve deeper into the later attacks of the Monster in the 1980's.
In this episode, Craig tells a continuing tale or murder, a whiff of police corruption and an interesting and flawed trial and arrest. Not only that, but we examine the profile created by the FBI to assist the Italian authorities narrow down suspects and catch the Monster once and for all.
We even put forward our own suspect for who the Monster could possibly be!
This week marks a first for us - a two parter! And it's sees Craig telling us about one of the most brutal unsolved serial killers, the case of the Monster of Florence.
The Monster of Florence was a serial killer who murdered 14 people between 1974 and 1985 in the Italian province of Florence. He also believed to be involved and/or responsible for a double homicide dating back to 1968 and was also connected to the Monster's murders in 1982.
The victims were young amorous couples parked or camped in the countryside. The murderer used a .22 caliber Beretta gun and scuba knife, and in half of the cases excised sex organs from the bodies of the female victims the removal of which appeared to be the motive for the crimes. This led him to also be dubbed the Italian Jack the Ripper.
In this episode we find out about the initial crimes and suspects before examining the initial link to a murder from 1968.
Tune in next week for part two, where we examine the cases of the early 80s and the investigations and arrests that followed.

This week, Sophie takes us north of the border to Scotland to tell us more about the only potential alien abduction investigated by police in the UK, the case of Robert Taylor.
Robert Taylor who was a forestry worker, a respected veteran, churchgoer and teetotaller, reported seeing an alien spaceship in woods where he worked near Livingston over 40 years ago.
When speaking to detective Ian Wark, Taylor described how he saw a 30ft-high "dome-shaped" object in a clearing where 'sea-mine' like objects appeared from it before rushing to grab him.
The police took the rips to his clothing and his injuries as evidence of an attack, but couldn't confirm what actually happened to him.
Strange markings found at the site of Taylors abduction were never fully quantified.
Over the years, Taylor's testimony never changed and he regularly spoke with ufologists about his experience.

This week, Shaun scratches a personal itch to learn more about the mysterious Bermuda Triangle and tells us some of the stories of boats, planes and people that have disappeared within in it, without a trace.
The Bermuda Triangle, or the Devil’s Triangle as it sometimes called, refers to section of the Atlantic Ocean that is roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico and covers around 450,000 square miles of ocean.
Our first story involves the disappearance of the U.S.S Cyclops in 1918. The Cyclops was the US navy's largest ship at the time and when America entered World War 1, it became an highly important ship to transport supplies and troops. So how could this ship just... vanish?
Our second story is the fate of the Carol A. Deering. What was supposed to be a routine trip to transport coal from Virginia to Rio De Janeiro to Baltimore, was soon beset with the problems that descend from the Captain falling ill and a hastily replacement, to ill tempers, possibly mutiny and murder.
Next up is the creepy tale of the Ellen Austin. During a trip from Liverpool to New York, the Captain spotted a vessel slowly ambling in the water. Believing it a trap, the Captain set watch for two days before he was confident of sending a salvage crew aboard. What they found was an intact ship, devoid of names plates and log book, cargo untouched and no signs of struggle, but no crew at all. The Captain assigned the salvage crew to the newly found ship with orders to follow the Ellen Austin to New York. However, this wouldn't be the case.
And finally, the tragic tale of Flight 19 in 1945. Flight 19 set out from Fort Lauderdale to complete a routine training exercise. But after an hour or so of flight, the Flight Commanders compasses ceased to function properly. At the same time a storm front moved in, disorientating an already confused group of pilots. As tempers flared between commander and pilot, the set out east, the Flight Commander believe they'd hit the Miami Peninsula. They'd never be seen again. Even the search and rescue attempt to find the pilots resulted in Mariner Seaplane disappearing twenty minutes into its flight. In all, 27 men would go missing that day.

This week Craig talks to us about some spooky goings on in the historical city of York!
This week, Sophie tell us about the case of Suzy Lamplugh, who was reported missing on the last Monday of July, 1986 and has never been seen since.
Suzy was 25-years-old and worked as an estate agent in London. After attending an appointment at Shorrel House, Fulham with a 'Mr. Kipper', she was reported missing. Her car was later found abandoned with reports of a her being seen talking to man with a black car, not far from the house.
Her disappearance sparked a massive investigation for Suzy, where over 800 unidentified remains were tested, but to no avail. In 1993, seven years after her disappearance, she was declared dead, presumed murdered.
Sophie also presents three suspects that have been put forward as responsible for what happened to Suzy - each probably worthy of an episode each for the other offenses and crimes they have committed. Listen now and make up your mind as to whether Michael Sams, Steve Wright (not the BBC Radio2 presenter!) or John Cannan were responsible.

On the eve of Thanksgiving 1971, when most families were prepping turkeys and baking pumpkin pies, a middle-aged man, about 6ft in height, wearing a dark raincoat, thin black tie, neatly pressed white shirt and carrying a black attaché case, approached the counter of Northwest Orient Airlines.
He bought a one-way ticket to Seattle on Flight 305 and gave his name as Dan Cooper. Cooper then walked out to the plane and took his seat 18C, on the last row of the Boeing 727 placed the attaché case on his lap, ordered a bourbon and water and waited for take-off.
At approximately 2:50pm, Flight 305, with it 35 passengers onboard, took off and began its half-hour journey to Seattle. The crew on board were Captain William Scott, co-pilot Bob Rataczak. Flight attendants were Alice Hancock, Florence Schaffner and Tina Mucklow and finally engineer, Harold Anderson.
A short time after take-off, around 3pm, Cooper handed Florence Schaffner a note. She took the note, politely smiled and put the note in her pocket. with the note out of mind and out of sight, stowed in her pocket, Schaffner continued her duties in the cabin, serving drinks and seeing to the needs of passengers. Cooper eventually called her over, once more. He leaned in close and whispered “Miss, I think you’d better look at the note… I have a bomb.”

We return to Australia this week, where Craig tells us the grim story of Katherine Knight, the first woman in Australian history to be sentenced to life without parole, for the gruesome murder of her partner, John Price.
But Katherine Knight was just getting started.
Using her years of expertise working at the abattoir, Knight skinned him and hung the skin from a meat hook on the architrave of a door to the lounge room. She then decapitated the head, boiling it in a pot. Next, she chopped off and cooked parts of his body, serving up the meat with baked potato, pumpkin, beetroot, zucchini, cabbage, yellow squash and gravy in two settings at the dinner table, along with notes beside each plate, each having the name of one of Price's children on it.
It's thought she was preparing to serve his body parts to his children.
