Nondu Lehutso is a podcaster and journalist. The host of The NDL Show has had a lifelong love of broadcast journalism that she traces back to watching 3 Talk With Noeleen with her mom. Since then, she's been on a steadfast path that has lead to her working in finance journalism when she's not podcasting. Whilst doing her Honours last year, Nondu was shot by police during a student protest. She shares the effects it had on her and how it made an already difficult year much worse. We also learn what it's like to grow up as a pastor's daughter, and get into the joys and pains of podcasting. Enjoy.

MX is a rapper who streams freestyle sessions on Twitch. MX has been a part of the Durban rap scene since he was a teen, but recently he's found himself part of an international community of likeminded people thanks to streaming. As an introverted artist, MX has found freedom through the internet. We get into the importance of living with purpose and learning to define success for yourself instead of confirming to societal ideals. Enjoy.

Whan Zulu is a film producer, entrepreneur, and the first Black South African to have a pro model skateboard. In 2002, at the age of 18, Whan became a pro skater. At 38, he runs a production company called Pitch Black Post. We reminisce over youths spent on boards and discuss how the skate scene has evolved for the better over the years. Whan shares how his skating career fortuitously lead him to editing and how that lead to him running his own production company. This is his third attempt at entrepreneurship and it's finally working out the way he's hoped. If there's one thing that skating teaches you, it's how to get back up until you eventually land on your feet. Enjoy.

Desire Marea is someone who I consider to be a once-in-a-generation artist. While he's probably best known as a musician, Desire's creativity knows no bounds. That being said, while Desire oozes a calm confidence, they open up about struggling with imposter syndrome. We hear how a friendship with Fela Gucci, formed out of a love of fashion and music, led to FAKA, a musical project that had an impact on more lives than just their own. It led to them travelling the world together and even meeting Donatella Versace. Since then, Desire has released a phenomenal debut solo album and returned home to KZN to become a sangoma. We learn about the calling and how it's impacted Desire's life. Enjoy.

Shanray van Wyk is a comedian, actor, and writer. While he says he's lazy, his output says otherwise. We hear what it was like to manage the Melville Comedy Club, how lockdown brought everything to a halt, and what the journey of getting back on stage has been like for him. Shanray kept busy during lockdown, and thanks to his nightly Instagram Live shows, he is currently the face of Outsurance. Run George, a short film he wrote with Bongani Dube, was also finished during the pandemic and has been picked up by festivals around the world. Shanray shares the particularly brutal criticism they got about the first draft of the script from an older comedian. Enjoy.

Khanya Mtshali is a writer and a critic. Khanya has bylines in pretty much every noteworthy publication in South Africa, and quite a few overseas too. Not only that, she's now a published author as she spent her time in lockdown writing a book on South African advertising called "It's Not Inside, It's On Top". The book takes a critical look at how advertising has been shaped by the politics of the time and gives some fresh perspectives to phrases and images that are burned into our collective consciousness. We chat about the decline of the media industry, the mental minefield that is social media, the challenges of writing a research-based book in a pandemic, and wrestling. Lots, and lots of wrestling. Enjoy.
