Diogo Jota's second-half goal decided a typically hard-fought Merseyside derby, though the visitors had chances of their own in the opening 45 minutes.

As such, Reds reporter David Lynch is full of praise for manager Arne Slot for the tweaks he made to allow his team to control things after break.

The contributions of goalscorer Jota, makeshift right-back Curtis Jones, and both Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are also highlighted.
