The Be Ruthless Show episodes

  • Healing is Ongoing

I had the craziest migraine last week, and Dallas knew before I did. For Real!

On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I get a little personal. I talk about living alone in a new area and how something as simple as a migraine can become overwhelming.

I discuss how Sassy and Dallas keep me going when, truth be told, without them it would be easy to neglect myself and my needs.

I say all the time that we live in this fast paced world. Healing isn’t fast. It’s not linear. It’s ongoing.

  • ThriverZone with Susan Omilian

What do you think of when you hear Domestic Violence? Something physical?

Verbal abuse is just as dangerous and often overlooked. On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, my guest discusses all of this, and more.

Susan Omilian is an attorney, author and motivational speaker who has worked to end violence against women for the last forty years. With the death of her nineteen-year-old niece Maggie, killed in 1999 by her ex-boyfriend, Susan’s work became more personal and immediate. She vowed to help victims move on after abuse as Maggie could not. She is the originator and facilitator of My Avenging Angel WorkshopsTM based on the idea that “living well is the best revenge.”

Since 2001, her free workshops have helped hundreds of survivors take the journey beyond abuse from victim to survivor to thriver. Susan’s innovative seven-step motivational model follows the three stages of recovery from trauma developed by Dr. Judith Herman, a psychiatrist best known for developing the diagnosis of complex PTSD.

Prior to this work, Susan founded a sexual assault crisis center, worked as a courtroom victim advocate and represented domestic violence victims as an attorney in divorce cases. She also led psycho-educational groups for male domestic violence offenders for fifteen years.

  • You’re Suspended: and it’s a GIFT!

CBS6 Albany's Heather Kovar was suspended after appearing disheveled, slurring, and calling the weather anchor the wrong name on the Saturday evening news.

Kovar lost her father in May and after time off to mourn his loss, she returned to a grueling schedule. It’s a position millions of people face every single day.

On today's episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I dig deeper and discuss how much grief impacts our health. I talk about the confusion, the difficulty sleeping, the inability to focus…. The “invisibles.”

I also talk about how we can do better - for each other and for ourselves!

My Relief From Grief Live Workshop on the evening of July 19th has a few remaining spots that you can register for here.

Join my fundraising team for teens struggling with their mental health here.

  • Emotional Bedrest

People are struggling. Everywhere. The world is full of chaos and uncertainty. So thank you Shawn Mendes!

On Friday, Mendes postponed his current tour “until further notice” so that he can concentrate on his mental health. He talked about how touring post Covid is much more difficult than it used to be.

Again - thank you. We’re all struggling and readjusting. And we need to talk about the fact that it’s difficult!

On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I share my own struggles as well the tools I use to get through them.

I also discuss important upcoming events:

First up on July 19th, 6 pm MST, Relief From Grief, our powerful free live workshop is back and it has a few spots remaining. Register here.

Secondly we are hosting on September 10th a walk and fundraiser for Whole Lotta Love: The James Lincoln Ruth Foundation.

Donate to our cause for supporting teenagers experiencing mental health concerns here.

You can also join us for the in person walk in Fort Collins, Colorado or attend virtually. Confirm your spot (s) by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "walk for teens".

  • Well Being...What Does It Mean? With Monica Heiz

Well being…. what does it mean?

People talk about physical well being. People talk about emotional well being. And people talk about spiritual well being.

Most conversations separate these categories when in reality, they’re all connected. Our emotions impact our health. Our health impacts our emotions. And on and on it goes.

On todays episode of The Be Ruthless Show, my guest Monica Heiz talks more about these inter connections.

Monica is a new breed of career women.  A heart centered entrepreneur.  Through the power of physical, mental and emotional well being, Monica grounded into a state of well being, where health and wealth find balance.

From learning to overcome, and manage the loss of her parents, her family, complete her college degree, becoming a top level Group Fitness Instructor in NYC, an elite level athlete, Monica made it her job to redefine and re-establish health and well being. “So much of the work comes from the mental and emotional components”, she says.

These aren’t skills you can learn in school or through a certification, they’re experiential. You must experience them to teach them with emotional intelligence and intellectual stimulation. You must have a context in how they feel, how to feel them, to relate to others.

The power in them is the ability to create change. Lifestyle is a series of choices and decisions. There is no quick fix. It takes practices, habits, re-reinforcement and support.

In understanding her own self, Monica has created a series of programs to support physical, mental and emotional well- being and health. Confidence, courage, good boundaries, self esteem are all built through health and well-being.

Monica Holds a B.S. Degree in Nutrition and Fitness from Florida State University and she is a National Aerobic Champion. You can connect with her at monicaheiz.com

  • Episode 125: It's Season 4.....What's in Store?

Happy July. Happy 4th! I can’t believe it’s The 4th Season of The Be Ruthless Show! Thank You for your support!! I wouldn’t be here without all of you.

In addition to upcoming workshops and fundraisers, on today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss why you need to hire an expert.

All of my newest clients have had the worst experiences….. including un-returned calls, the inability to get appointments, lack of collaboration with important family members, and on and on it goes.

It doesn’t have to be that way, but most people don’t know they have more options. Newsflash: You Absolutely Do!

    Upcoming workshops:

    1. Relief From Grief Workshop is back by popular demand, happening live July 12th 2022.

You can register for Relief From Grief easily online here: https://samantharuth.com/workshop

    2. For more info about Survive and Thrive happening August 2nd email [email protected]

    3.  I am excited to share that I am fundraising for the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation (CKG). One teen out of every five suffers from mental illness, yet less than 33% get help. Together, we can change that.

  • Episode 123 Listening To Understand

There is so much that we’re just not taught about healthy communication. Key word: healthy!

There are aggressive communication styles. Passive communication styles.

And oh my, the passive aggressive communication styles

On today's episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I make it very simple. I talk about listening to understand. Period.

    Not listening to respond.

    Not listening to correct.

    Not listening to judge.

Listening to understand. It’s crucial for healthy relationships - including your relationship with yourself!!
