SHOW NOTES
Sugar. What’s the big deal? Many of us consume too much sugar over a long period of time, and eventually develop certain health conditions that alter our lives. There's a problem.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), “Americans are eating and drinking too many added sugars, which can contribute to health problems such as weight gain and obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. To live healthier, longer lives, most Americans need to move more and eat better, including consuming fewer added sugars.” (https://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/data-statistics/added-sugars.html)
In this episode of “The Beating Diabetes Podcast,” I share my personal story and experience with sugar cravings and addiction, and exactly what I did to kick the habit. I use to be 268 pounds, overweight, sluggish, and unexplainably moody. One day, I found myself hospitalized and learned that I had developed Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).
As of this episode, I’m 187 pounds, off insulin, and have reversed (T2D). Losing those 81 pounds wasn’t easy, but it was worth the effort. I’m healthy, alive, and on a mission to help diabetics who are overweight, have unhealthy nutritional habits, and are in need guidance for transforming their lives in order to reverse Type2 diabetes.
I believe you can transform your life, be healthy, and feel alive! The way how is not complicated.

Have you ever reached a low point in your life, and felt alone while dealing with personal chaos? Perhaps you were bombarded by negative thoughts about yourself, your weight, your lack of accomplishments, your marriage, and so many other things. That was me.
When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes back in August 2020, I was hospitalized and going through an emotional battle. Coming out of the hospital, I didn't realize that my life would change from that point on. A troublesome medical report. A dying marriage.
In this episode, I get very personal, and share a candid story of my experience with being overweight, depressed, but most importantly, how I bounced back.
Hopefully my story touches you in a way that encourages you to bounce back and win.

"Journey Journal" is simply as the title suggests. This audio-only format is a spin-off version of my main podcast, "The Beating Diabetes Podcast with Oscar Camejo."
When I began my personal journey towards beating diabetes and living a sustainable healthy lifestyle, I documented almost everything. When people ask me the specifics of how much I weighed, how many pounds I've lost and how, I have proof. I have logs of my workouts since day. From apps, to charts, pictures and video, I have A LOT of stuff.
So, I decided to produce a more laid-back version of the podcast where I talk about my current progress from week to week. I cover the highlights of my week, including the bumps and bruises along the way.
In this week's episode, I share:
Enjoy!

When you're overweight, diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and had what felt like a near-death experience, you tend to reevaluate your life and what brought you to that point. That was me between 2019 and 2020.
I USE to be 268 pounds, sick, sluggish, stressed out and living as a diabetic. BUT, things changed when I made a concrete decision to transform my entire life, lose weight, and beat diabetes. I lost 77 pounds in less than a year.
Today, I no longer need to take insulin (as confirmed by my doctor). I'm very active, and I feel great!
My goal is to create awareness around diabetes, and help others win this battle against diabetes and win!
