Today and next week, we’re going to be discussing the aftermath of two books that had an impact upon multitudes of Christians, and that impact was not good, to say the least. Both books promoted ideas that greatly distorted what the Scriptures teach, specifically regarding prophecy. And I used the term “aftermath” because the authors of both books engaged in more-than-implied date setting that failed to occur. My guest for our discussion is Dave James, who’s the author of The Harbinger: Fact or Fiction? and Biblical Guide to Shemitah and the Blood Moons.

Dave, I razzed you last week about this being perceived as a sensational, date-setting publication; “the Lord’s right at the door so look for Him in April of 2004” variety. We’ve had a few books around like that. But that was tongue-in-cheek. However, you do say in the book, and I’m quoting you, “Somewhere at this very moment on planet Earth, the Antichrist is almost certainly alive, biding his time, awaiting his cue.” Whoa!

In today’s program, we launch a two-part series and dig into our Search the Scriptures Daily archives with the late founder of The Berean Call, Dave Hunt, and TBC executive director, Tom McMahon, originally broadcast in 2003 and part of the collection of programs based on Dave’s book Countdown to the Second Coming.

Our topic – this is part two – our topic has been Roman Catholicism, and in particular, the pope at this airing is visiting the United States, so we want to address that. In order to do that, I have Greg Durel, a good friend of mine, who’s the pastor of Heritage Bible Church in Gretna, Louisiana, and he has a weekday radio ministry that is devoted to educating Catholics in biblical doctrine.

Today our topic is Roman Catholicism, and in particular the present head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis. Now our guest to discuss the subject with me is Greg Durel. He's pastor of Heritage Bible Church in Gretna, Louisiana, and he has a weekday radio ministry that is devoted to educating Catholics in biblical doctrine. And, like myself, Greg grew up in the Catholic Church, so he knows Catholicism experientially as well as from his study of Catholic Church tradition and its dogmas.

Our guest is Randall Price, and we have been talking about Israel, and what’s going on today. Randall is the founder and president of World of the Bible Ministries. He’s a research professor and executive director of the Center for Judaic Studies at Liberty University; he’s written numerous books – I want you to go back, folks, if you’re just joining us and missed part one, Randall was telling us about a project that he’s working on: a virtual tour of the temple, which sounds really exciting, so we won’t go back over that, but you need to check out part one.

Our guest for today and next week is Randall Price. He’s the founder and president of World of the Bible Ministries. He’s also a research professor and the executive director of the Center for Judaic Studies at Liberty University. He has a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in Jewish studies and biblical archaeology.

This is part 2 of our conversation, a discussion about prophecy, and, in particular, blood moons. That’s a teaching that’s come into the church, and people are excited about it, but it has raised a bit of controversy. And it should, because we have to question whether it’s biblical or not. The perspective – I don’t care who it is – whatever the person is teaching, if they claim to be speaking for the Bible, then we have a resource to check out what they’re saying, just as the Bereans did in Acts 17:11.

The subject for today and next week is what some are teaching about what the Scripture refers to as a blood moon. Now, it’s generated quite a bit of excitement as well as controversy, and, as most of our listeners know, the mission of this program and The Berean Call is to compare whatever is being taught in Christendom today with what is presented in God’s Word.
